I would have to say for pro, the money, and the country they get to see while on the truck, cons I would have to say the time they are missing with there families, and there kids are all grown up before they realize it.

My husband was a trucker for 30 yrs. until retirement. The hardest part for daily living was making plans, we never knew what time he would be home. Also we never knew what time he had to be back to work. The scary part was the weather and traffic. People in cars do some stupid moves around trucks. They do not stop on a dime, it takes a long time to stop a truck. The long hours away from home can be tough, you have to be a patient spouse, an understanding spouse. Sometimes it can get lonely.

The hardest part for me has been the seperation and the lack of time they spend at home. We were used to seeing him every night at least and now we see him every 2-3 weeks. The other thing that has been hard for me is not being more involved in his life. He worked at home before he decided to be a trucker, so I was very involved in most things he did, and used to being able to talk to him whenever I needed to. I think the biggest pro is the money, although I have noticed we've both matured and grown up a lot since being apart, and I would consider that a pro, although it hasn't been easy.
