Do You Have A Special Time for Your Child(ren)

My daughter and I have a special time almost every night where we read to each other. She picks a story and reads a page, then I read, then she, then I, until it is finished. It is a special time we both look forward to. What makes it even more special is that my daughter is thirty-one years old. She was born with Down's syndrome and the doctors told me to never expect anything of her. Yet here she is reading to me! She has proven many times during her life how wrong that doctor was to predict how her life would be. She is self-reliant, charming, and has more love in her heart than I've ever seen in any other. Do you have a special time with your child or children? Why is it so special to you?

He's beautiful and very fortunate to have parents who love him so much. Enjoy these years - they pass so fast.

yes time flies so fast, and because my child is a boy i know when he starts going to school he will be starting to get shy to give me a hug and a kiss. not like daughters. so i enjoy every second we are together. in a day that i dont have to go to work we even take a nap together side by side. we even pee together

Give that little darling a hug from me and tell him he's one lucky fellow to have such loving parents.

It is one of our most special times of any day. It allows both of us to enjoy each other's company and relax. Try it and I'm sure you will love it!

My husband & I are both working but we always see to it that at the end of the day we can spend some quality time together. It maybe hard at first but I can assure you that its really worth it. For we can get to teach the kid between right & wrong & talk to him.

It's wonderful to hear parents who care enough about time with their children to carve out space just for them. It's especially difficult when both are working, but it's amazing how much of those times children remember after they are grown. Kudos to both of you!

Thats great mysticmaggie! Perents often know their childrens potential more than doctors. It just goes to show what a parents love can do to make a difference in their childs life.Your daughter sounds like she's very special and has beaten the odds. I have 3 children and I try to spend special time with them individually but its not alsways possible. We have our special time when we're in the car.Its amazing that they seem to want to talk more while we're in the car. My daughter loves to help me cook so thats our special time. My other daughter likes to sew so we sew together. My son is only a yr old so he has lots of special time, but my favorite time with him is his bath. It was a special for me when they were learning to read. I know how proud you must be of your daughter because I to am proud when they read to me.
