How Do You Teach Kids the Value of Money?

My daughter has her own money to spend when we go to the store (mostly birthday money, money from selling old toys at a yard sale, can money, etc). And, if she wants a toy, she has to use that money to buy it.

They need to earn money through chores and other means. It really irritates me when parents rush out and buy their kids new cars or old cars on their 16th birthdays. Those kids should have a job and pay at least a part of the car. And they need to pay their own insurance. People don't understand that spoiling your kids to much will hurt them later in life. So my answer is to have them earn their own money.
