If someone asked you if the next time you go to the store, could they go with you. Would you ask them for gas money? Or take them since you were going anyway?

If this person lived nearby and it didn't require a lot of driving to pick up and drop off, no, I would consider it a favor and not charge gas money. If I had to go a distance out of my way though it would only be fair that I was compensated for the gas I used doing that.

Nope. I'm not that cheap and I won't go as low as that. And besides, you always have the option to say no or make an alibi then why not use them. I would gladly take someone with me if we're on the same route and I would never ask them for gas money.

What if they did it all the time. If they said everytime you went to the store, "can I ride with you when you go". Do you think at some point that it would become a car pool deal and at times you should split the gas, or at least offer some sort of swap if money isn't an option.

I would probably just take them since I was going anyway, as long as they were OK with going to the same store I was going to.

I wouldn't even think of asking them for money if I were going there anyway. I mean really, what's the harm? Now, if they were asking me to drive them here, there and everywhere, that would be a different story altogether. If there is no extra cost for you to have someone catch a ride to somewhere you are already going to anyways, why would you want money for it?

My friends and I don't charge each other for gas money at all. Especially if were going to the same place. If they offer then sure accept it! But I wouldn't ask unless you really need the money.

If I was already going I would not charge someone gas money for wanting to catch a ride with me. Now if the asked me to take them somewhere where I was not going or if it was out of my way I would ask them to cover the cost of gas. But other than that I could not charge someone for wanting to catch a ride with me to some place I was heading already.

I would really see no point in charging someone to take them with you to the store when you were already going. I think that it would be a different story maybe if someone had asked you and you were not in fact going then yes that would be different. I hate it when people ask me for gas money when I ask them to take me somewhere where they are going also, I've had that happened to me alot and then I'm like just forget it.
