I am the type of person that peels the potatos for dinner and then i decide what we are all having, even though i put them in a saucepan we still sometimes have chips, but to be honest i like to peel the potatos for the childrens tea as that way there are no accidents with the knives or potato peelers.I sit mine all down for dinner at the same time as that way we all get to chat to each other about anything what has happened during the day as well as there is only one mess to clean up rather than meals being done all evening and all night.

jugsjugs I do not really want to be stupid so help me,here when ww have tea in the US we just have a cookie or something sweet with it,it is not called a Tea but just a midday break, but there you sound like you have a mini meal,so Tea is like a small meal, am I right? I am a yank as you must know. sounds like something my doctor was suggesting in h aving four or five small meals for a diabetic to e ven out our blood sugar levels.

We have break fast at 8am dinner at say 12pm and another cooked dinner that i call cooked tea at 5pm then if we are still wanting a snack then we either have that in the afternoon or in the late evening.I try to keep meals around the same time of the day every day as that way the children as well as the adults know when they are to be here if they want to get fed,as i am not cooking as well as tidying up all night.

Hee hee - cute! Well, some people have that boxed mashed potato (the flakey stuff that you just add water to) - so in that case you wouldn't need to peel or cook - hee hee!! I'm from the US, so I thought the funnier thing was having potatoes for tea! As Hatley mentioned, I think of sweets or finger sandwiches for tea . . . though we don't specifically have "tea time", just a "snack time".

Haha. That's funny. Once my cousin, who was about 16 or 17 at the time, asked me if peas are a vegetable.. and the other day my 11 yr old sister couldn't believe it when I told her lamb comes from lambs.. hehe she was shocked.

hi doormouse sorry something went right over my head here. The stepdad said the son wont peel the potatoes and you teased him for being lazy, but what was the thing about you having mash everyday, you mean mashed potatoes or something else? I can see this is supposed to be funny , but I am missing the point, sorry.

I can not see why the step dad did not cook for the child, or what about the mother.A child should do chores, but to do their own tea.No doubt the mother is one of these people, that tends to not work and be walking about all day at a friends or sitting on face book.A child should be a child not an adult.
