I like the windows 7. It is a good upgrade in xp. It is better than that VISTA! Windows 7 claims it is faster than XP and Vista and tried it but it is just like xp with a twist of vista. I can't say fully it is the recommended OS because some programs might not work yet in Windows 7. There will be yet another incompatibilities of files on the hand XP is widely used and it has been great OS since 2003 for me. It is all good just don't like the VISTA. ^^

I started using XP since its beta version was released...that was way back in 2000 and even upgraded my system to the final release which was, if I remember right on the 25th of Oct 2001. After using it for quite a while, I came to a conclusion that though the interface is great...it actually sucks, and I would rather stick to Windows 98 or Win 2k Pro and many of them agreed with me. It had a lot of compatibility issues and required a lot more resources than what was required for its predecessors. But eventually every software and hardware manufacturer upgraded their products and within a year most of them had Win XP as their mininmum requirements!!! XP became stable only after the launch of SP1 and SP2. These service packs were as huge as the OS itself !! But as long as it worked and stabilised things no one minded. Eventually gone and forgotten was 98 and 2k. Then came Vista (a total disaster - just like Windows Me) Microsoft wanted to launch a test version at the expense of the end users and well BG did earn a lot I say!! Windows 7 was supposed to be the actual release and not Vista and now that it's here, I did get a chance to work on it. Being an IT person, I can safely say that it is the best of the lot so far (I'm only comparing it with Microsoft OS and not with the others like MAC, Linux , BSD etc). As was the case with Win XP, the initial phase is going to be very challenging for the software and hardware manufacturers to get their products to work with 7 but that won't take long. Undoubtedly it is much faster and has many cool features like AERO, Problem Step Recorder and BIT Locker in particular are damn good. The better hardware specs you have, the better your experience with Win 7. Give it some more time and within the next few months your opinions are bound to change. Even if it does'nt..we may have no choice as XP will slowly and surely be phased out very soon just like 98 and 2k.

I like both Windows 7 AND Windows XP. Windows 7 is much more reliable than Windows Vista ever was. The laptop I'm on now has Windows XP, and the desktop I use has Windows 7 on it. The only thing I'm having a problem with is the networking between the two. My 7 machine can see and talk to the XP laptop, but the XP laptop can not talk to the 7 machine. It can see it, not talk to. Personally I prefer Windows 7.

Having just got a new computer with Windows 7 after using XP for several years I can say that I think that W7 is pretty good. So far I have not had any problems with it, and it's pretty user friendly as well. I'd have liked to stay with XP (better the devil you know...) but MS are discontinuing support for XP and also I decided to go to 64-bit computing with the new machine and 64-bit Windows 7 was the only option for that.

Windows 7 is really good...much better than Vista. If you are a gamer, I still won't prefer Windows 7 for you due to it's compatibility. I would still say that XP is more stable than Win 7. I am not looking to upgrade my PC from Win XP to Win 7 for at least another year or so. But really, Windows 7 is worth using...if not now then at least in the coming years.
