India missing a bowler like Anil Kumble especially at home. What you say?

Anil Kumble was a super performer for India for decades. Especially at home and most of the time he battled it out single handedly. He also gets credit for many wins. After his retirement suddenly India is WANTING in the spin department. Harbhajan is not so effective and new comers are yet to establish themselves. It might take some more time for India to come up with a champion bowler like him. What you think? Share your views!

Frankly speaking, I'm not a very big fan of Kumble. He is not the big turner of the ball. Bowling 50 overs in a test match and picking up 1 or 2 wickets is not so hard and you and me can do that as well... Of course, he is one of the highest wicket taker but, considering the number of matches he has played, it's too low... Kumble is not a great spinner in my opinion, let alone a great bowler... It's just so happened that he has took so many wickets... And regarding your comment "Harbajan is not so effective", you're wrong with that. Harbajan is a class bowler and a match winner. He's currently ranked 6th in ICC world rankings for bowlers in ODIs and 12th in Test. Currently he is going through a bit bad patch but it happens for all bowlers as well as batsman. But still he is ranked in top 10. I think we need a good left arm spinner at the moment. Someone like Pragyan Ojha. May be we should pick someone like him and train him like some of the successful left arm spinners like Vettori, Brad Hogg, etc...

well have to disagree with you on kumble . shane warne:145 matches,708 wickets, best innings bowl 8/71,best match figure 12/148,37 five wickets haul and 10 ten wickets haul. compare it with kumble 132 matches,619 wickets, best inngs figure 10/74,best match figure 14/149,35 five wicket haul and 8 ten wicket hauls. doesnt look that different does it? or you wanna say that warne is not a good leg spinner. as for ranking, bhajji never occupied the number 1 spot in ICC rankings but kumble did.

@VinceMcMohan No one says Kumble was a great turner of the ball. But no one can deny that he had won many matches for India. So if a bowler is a great turner of the ball but doesn't take many wickets then will he be considered a great bowler? A bowler needs to take wickets. That is what matters for the team. The debate about who is the great turner etc is at personal level and it is just to consider when someone tries to compare with others. There is no much difference between Warne and Kuble with respect to Strike Rate etc. And remember Kumble lacked the fielding brilliance that Warne had with his team. Otherwise Kumble would have got some more wickets. And for Harbhajan, he is not so effective at the moment. Whether you are a number six or number one only thing that matters is how you are playing right now. The RANK only denotes the PAST performance. If he performs like this only then soon he will be out of Top Ten list of ICC rankings. Happy Mylotting!

yes,the indians missing a spinner in the recent team very much. after anil kumble no body till now replaced him. every body thought harbajan will lead spin department well. but he is not doing it well. the spinners like ojha, mishra are also trying to get a spot in the tean. i think it will take some time to replace kumble. we have to try out some fresh legs.
