Well most people find it a real pain having to listen to music while studing but i find it quite nice. it helps me relax and most of the time concentrate more. Im not sure why but it does. My friends find it very difficult to study with music on. well it also depends on the type of music you are playing. I would be able to study with rock playing into my ears but a more relaxed and romantic song will help me alot. Expecially during the late ours when i am really tired. How about you can you concentrate while playing music?

If i can listen to music during my studies depends on the easyness of the studies i have to do. IF i have to concentrate alot then i will in most cases not have any music.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I guess it also depends on that. The only time I find it a problem to listening to music is when im doing math. Higher level maths. The numbers start to get mixed up with the words from the song and I find it difficult to remember with all the numbers involved. SO when i do maths i sometimes just put a song with no words.

I can actually easy imagine that, but there is also difference on math and what we consider hard. All math belonging to accounting I would easy be able to do with music in the background, and even find the music comfortable.

I see you are very good in maths then. We are very different then. I have difficults with maths but all other subject are ok. So you can do maths while listening to rock? that would be a NO? Because I have not seen anyone being able to do that.

Yes, surprisingly for me, I can concentrate more when I listen to certain kinds of music. And at other times, I just cannot concentrate on anything at all. I think it all boils down to what topics or subjects I'm studying. If it's like memorizing lines type, I can't listen to any music. If it's like Math, a strategy kind of question, whereby I just need to recall the formula or something, I can listen to most music and still being able to concentrate.

I couldn't agree more. Some silence is needed too whenever I want to study certain things. And sometimes when I want to write for inspirations, I'll need a bit of peace and quiet too, or just a slow music will do.

Yes everything depends on the subject that you are study. I find it really nice listening to music while studying for IT. Thats because i really like IT and because i understand it better than my other subjects. Whereas a subject such as physics. There are times when i need silence to understand it in the beginning. Other times its fine listening to music.

If there is no music on in the background, I can't concentrate on anything, because the smallest little noise will distract me.

I really find it annoying when peopla are talking and im studying. Thats why i prefer to listen to music rather than people laughing and making silly jokes. I also get very distracted. Musics is very good for the soul. Well thats what i think. It helos me keep calm and also relax.

Sometimes I can concentrate on my study even when the music is on, but very occasionally. More often, I prefer listen to music after study to relax. If I listen to music before study, I am afraid that I could hardly control myself to stop because I can listen for hours.

Thanks for the response. Some people daydream while listening to music. While that happens to me also but mostly while listening to romantic music. You start thinking about so many things. Sometimes during the night when i need to study and im very tired i play music to wake me up a bit. and it does work.

So do you normally listen to muscic while studying? what about when you are studying for a test? when im studying for a test i prefer silence like everyone else. its really easy to capture everything when there is no noise around you. But most of the time there is noise so i prefer listen to music insteasd of peoples voices. Music is very helpful in such cases.

I don't listen to music but I think music will definitely distract me. I prefer a quiet environment to study in.

I really find it nice to study with music on. Well i obviously cant listen to rock and hard metal when studying but i can listen to hip hop and other genre. I gues it all depends on the way you are. Some people can study with music on while others can to it at all. im glad i can.

Depending on what I am studying I can listen to music. I have found it easier to concentrate while studying depending on the subject.

Well yes it depends on the subject. If you are really good at the subject then you will find it easier to concentrate. Whereas if you are useless at it, you will find it very difficult. Especially if you are learning a new topic of some sort. thats my opinion. thanks for the response

No not really. I need silence so that I can concentrate. I can learn something with a little bit of music on while its not that loud but its a lot easier for me to study while there's no noise.

When you say low music does that mean you can listen to any type of music. Either rock or hip hop and you will be able to concentrate? well i have favourite type of music to listen to when i want to concentrate. I certainly cant listen rock. The noies just distracts me easily.

I usually don't have any problems with listening to the music while studying, unless the music doesn't play too loud, so it won't catch much of my attention. Sometimes, when I need to be totally concentrated on a task, I can't listen to the music, because it distracts my attention a little bit.

I have found that listening to music softly helps alot when studying. Its true it doesnt distract you too much and can keep you focused on what you are doing. I also have that problem when studying for a subject that i am not very familiar with. I try to understand and read in a quite place so i can get everything in my head faster

Personally, I have never been able to study or work whilst listening to music. I find it too off-putting and distracting, and it decreases my level of productivity, so I usually just study and work in silence.

I see you are very different from everyone else. Well we are all unique. Silence is the best solution for most people but i find it rather odd studying in silence. It could be because im so use to listening to music while studying. the only time i would really need silence is when im studying for my maths exams. I find it wuite difficult to study with music at such times.

I listen music often while I study, cause it helps me relax too, most of time I listen rock. But I don't listen music if I need to study for some difficult test.

Hello friend, Thanks for your response. Sometimes if the music is vey emotion i start to daydream about other stuff to. SO i try to keep myself to happy songs while studying. The only time i have had problems study is when i listen to a song repeatedly. It gets really annoying and i cant stand it. I have to listen to different songs playing at all times to be feeling in a good mood.

For me it depends from time to time, and it also depends on what level of studies I need to do. I concentrate a lot both with music and without, so for me it dosen't matter. But since I love music so much I would prefer listening to it when I study :)

What do you mean from time to time? do you mean you can study at a specific time? Well i cant study in the afternoon because its way to hot. I find it really hard to concentrate when its really hot. So most of the time i find it it nice to study in the night. I really can concentrate much with out music. I need something playing in the background to cancel all the other noise people make.

I can study while listening to music. Actually it make me more inspired to study. When I was in college I study at the end of the day, when everyone is in deep sleep. I want silence. By listening to songs and sometimes I sing along with it, I get inspired. Music leaves us memories. I do enjoy what I do while studying because of that. I can memorize the term easily and I do not get to be sleepy because I sing along with the songs playing. Some can’t concentrate their study when there is noise but me sometimes I can’t concentrate but I enjoy.

As I get older, I tend to get distracted more so if the sound is fierce and has a lot of bass and drums, that may throw me off and I might not concentrate well. However, if it's jazzy and new age like, instrumental piano or guitar, that might work better in aiding me to relax. I like to feel comfortable when I'm at home or typing so those music help me.

well for me it depends on what type of music you are listening to.. I can studying when i listen to soft music... it calms my mind which will allow the things that i study to stick on my head easily... but sometimes when the things i study is so hard, then i concentrate more on studying without music.. because sometimes it divides my attention.. I keep on singing along with the music.. but then again, its nice to listen to music while studying... :-)

Like you said, it depends what kind of music is playing. Before during my college days, I study with music. Like you, I can retain all the things I've study if the music are on. I usually listen to classic music while studying.. anything soothing to my ears. Just like for instance music of Johann Pachelbel or Yiruma.

Personally, I can't! I try to because sometime I just can't handle the quiet but then I start singing along to the music or thinking of other things that the music reminds me of. I can handle background noise like a tv or people talking but I just can't listen to music! Which is a shame because if I didn't get distracted so easily I'm sure it would act as a great remembering tool!

That is surprising I just cant study while the tv is on. Im not sure why but when an action movie is play i find it very difficult to concentrate. I guess its beacause i want to watch and beacause all the fighting can easily distract you. Listening to calm music is my one and only solution to studying properly
