do you think profile picture will atrract people to respond to your discussion?

Hi, mylotters!
I have something to discuss. some mylotters take their own picture as a profile picture (and they're really good looking people so they are confident to make their own face as profile picture). but some others, like me, take an avatar as my profile picture. what is your opinion, do you think our profile picture could make mylotters to give response to our discussion? and what about your own experience, do you sometimes give response because you attract to his/her profile picture? thanks for the responses given..:)

Hi! Personnally, the Avatar does not not have anything to do with what discussions shall I participate in. I look at the topic itself. Even if the Avatar is very attractive if the topic is nonsense or not of my interest I don't think I would participate. Indeed there are very attractive Avatars here but to me that is not a reason why I will respond to the discussion. Nevertheless, I believe there are those who are attracted with the Avatar and would respond to discussions because of this.

hi, salonga! I'm sure you've already read all of the responses in this discussion. most of them take the same opinion as yours..frankly, so do I. cos if the avatar or profile picture is good but the discussion is not too interesting for me, I think I won't also respond to that discussion..

Oh yeahh! I did not really take time to read the comments of others here. I don't usually read others comments actually because my time is so limited so instead of spending time reading the comments of others I'd rather just keep on posting in order to post more and earn more. But I'm glad that majority of the opinion is the same as mine. I think that really goes to most people. Its the topic and not the Avatar that matters most.

yup..sometimes I look at the topic first, if the topic could help me understand this program or useful for me, I'll take a little time to read all comments at glance..ya, most people agree that we like to see to the topic not the picture or avatar..:)

I think it's nice to experiment with using different avatars but I also think that someone likes to see a real person if that person doesn't mind being seen! I use my real photo instead of an avatar and I'm ok with this. I'm not sure whether you receive more responses if you have a photo rather than an avatar, that remains to be seen. I think everyone has the choise as regards what they want to use though and this is a good thing. Andrew

When I respond to a discussion here in mylot, I respond not because of the avatar but because the discussion is interesting to me.Even if the avatar doesn't look good or appealing to me, I still do respond to a discussion.On the other hand, good avatar or good picture profile may add interest or could attract a mylotter to respond to a discussion.

Hi,
I don't think profile pic has nothing to do with the participation, not in myLot at least. Here everybody is for discussion, and I firmly believe it is not capable of producing many friendships like those made in other social networking sites. This site is based on discussion and participation. My participation to a discussion will not rely on the profile pic but the topic of the discussion itself. I rarely visit profiles and that too when someone sends me a friend request.

yeah, finally we could conclude that whatever the picture is, nothing to do with the interest of people. but the most important thing is the discussion itself..ok, thanks biswa..:)

I think most people just go with the subject matter and not the profile picture. What good is it to have a great picture but the subject be totally not something you would go near?
I'm new here but i dont really think a good looking pic is going to draw more people. I could be wrong, though. ^00^

I personally think that anyone who puts their own picture up is crazy - are they INVITING crazy people to come after them?
I don't care what people have up as their avatar... even the generic "green man" tho I don't always understand why they don't change it if they can, like I did
I do, however, like avatars to not change all the time...

yeah..why they put their picture, perhaps, to make themselves exists in this program. they want other people see their own face not their avatar..thanks for your response, buddy..:)

Yes, I think the profile picture is very important. It can attract more people to pay attention to you. And it will leave an impression for others. Especially when some people are familiar with your picture, then will tend to respond to your discussions.

ya i think it has some effect.
when i start responding for a discussion i have made some good friends who i regularly respond.
so i just look on picture and select that discussion.
but heading is the prime importance.

I don't think so my friend.
When i look for a topic to respond with,it's not the profile picture that i look in the first place,but,the topic itself.
Maybe some mylotters check at the profile avatar,but it doesn't mean that,it is the photo that gives attraction.
Sometimes it is the timing also.
i found some topics really interesting but doesn't gathered up too much responses due to time table with other countries when it was posted.

to me i am not interested to show my picture to attract person or other my lotter but i achieve this with my significant content and discussion or responding others discussion if you see my profile i am not yet uploaded neither mine nor avatar ha ha ha. thank you.

hi! nolistening is actually right, because I am also attracted from the title of the discussion and not of the avatar, but I think some people inclusive me sometimes, are attract by the avatar of the member and not so much of the discussion. but you better post qualitative discussions and don't hope your avatar will get you more responses

hi, phoenix..I just want to compare between virtual world and real world. in our real word some people tend to attract to someone's performance before their mind or something. so i want to know whether people on virtual world just the same or not. oke, I'll keep posting qualified discussion..:)
