I have a 32(ish could be more...) pound puggle named Max. He's a black puggle. Many people mistake him for a lab... he's 20 months old. Tonight, like every Thursday, husband & I had bowling & when we got home, we found out that he managed to find a package of Keebler cheesecake centered cookies with dark chocolate graham crust. Basically, if you don't know what it is, they're like 1" in diameter chocolate graham cracker cookie with a 'cheesecake' center... it's not a LOT of chocolate per cookie, but it's still chocolate... He ate about 1/2 the package... I called the vet & they told me to give him 1 tbsp of hydrogen peroxide to make him vomit... Well, he got into the cookies somewhere between 6-9pm and he didn't get the peroxide until almost 10pm (That's how long it took me to call the vet & get the peroxide at the store cuz we didn't have any) and we stayed outside in the freezing cold for 45 minutes and he never vomited. PLEASE keep him in your prayers and if you've ever experienced this, let me know how long I need to wait until I know he's in the clear and I wont have to worry anymore. Also, if something BAD happens to him, my poor 6 year old daughter will probably never forgive herself & feel responsible for this because my fabulous non-thinking husband yelled at her & told her it was "her fault for leaving the cookies in his reach" (I bet if he REALLY wanted them, he'd be able to get them from the top of the FRIDGE he's THAT smart of a dog... he manages to get bread that's out of the reach of my 6 year old!) and "now he's gonna die for eating the chocolate!" UGH!!! So, anyways, it's been 3-6 hours since he's eaten the cookies and he never threw up from the peroxide and he's sleeping in bed with my hubby while I sit here worrying my head off & I can't find ANYTHING about how long til I know he's out of the clear... the Vets didn't seem too worried but I think that was as long as he vomited? I don't know... Just, PLEASE keep him in your prayers?! Thanks! Fran429 PS: Here's a pic of my purdy puppy:

If there's nothing happened to your dog, i think he will be ok if he is in good condition and strong enough,, the poison from chocolate will be dissapear on it self

If you can avoid your dog eating the chocolate, I would. It IS very poisonous to them. ESPECIALLY DARK chocolate which is the kind of cookies my pooch got into. I also hope my pup will be fine.

He'll be alright. It's just that the body cannot process one of the substances in chocolate very well and as a result can get very sick from it. If the vets say it's alright now, please trust them. They're professionals and your puppy is strong seeing/seen (How do you say that?) from the image.

Hi Diamania, he never SEEN the vet, that's just what the emergency vet told me to do. They didn't tell me that if he didn't throw up, what to do... just what to do to make him throw up... He seems to be OK. I slept like crap & now super worried cuz I'm at work & he's home alone & online says that toxic symptoms can happen at 12 hours & 12 hours would have been anywhere between 6-9. BUT, seeings how internet research said that if he ate it within 2 hours of peroxide he would have vomited, he had to have eaten it prior to 8pm... SO, probably NOW is the time I should be worried... UGH! I just hope he's OK!
