How do you feel about Valentines Day

I've never really made a big deal about Valentines Day. I've always felt it was a hallmark holiday. I'm not cynical about love, in fact I have a great marriage but my husband and I have never been all that into Valentines Day personally. Do you feel the same or does it mean alot to you. Do you get real bummed out if you don't have a special someone on Valentines Day?

I feel much the same. Why does February 14th have to be more special than any other day? I can be romantic - 10 november, or 5 August. Maybe 11 March or even the 12 February! To me those dates have as much significance as 14 February. I tell my wife that I love her several times each day and she says the same to me. We do buy each other cards but that's because deep down we're probably sheep. A Hallmark holiday indeed.

Yes I can relate. My husband and I are very loving to each other every day too so it seems silly to try to be even more loving because it's Feb 14. But I've bought lots of cards too. I've also succumbed to the programming. My husband both agreed not to get anything for each other this Valentines Day not even cards. It's just not neccesary for us. My marriage is in the double digits too. Congrats to us both.

This holiday has become like many others just an excuse to make people buy things... there is often no deep meaning in those. If you love someone you should show it everyday and be romantic everyday, not just in a prescheduled day. Just my opinion...

I haven't noticed more than usual, but maybe. Yes, I agree, we should show it everyday, but bills and just everyday pressures and everyday life makes many people forget about romantic love. We celebrate Presidents day, Labor day. Why not have a special day to celebrate love.

Now that I have a boyfriend, I love Valentine's Day, but when I single, I used to hate the day.

Congratulations on your new boyfriend. I may not be all that into it. But I hope your Valentines Day is a very happy one.

With me being a romantic, I like it but my girlfriend doesn't. And yes, it used to bum me out when I didn't have someone, even depress me. I had no reason to go out looking for that special valentine card for. Now I do, but she doesn't go out and do the same for me. I think she thinks that's for young people - I'm 53, she's 50.

That's cute. You should let your girlfriend know you think she's a young person. That will probably make her happier than anything you give her for Valentines Day! Glad you have someone special this time around.

I have been married for over 13 years and to be honest with you all i do every year is get him a gift and maybe if he is lucky i will make him a card aswell.I think that after 13 years he should know how i feel about him as if we did not have any feelings for each other we would both be long gone.I think it is another way for people to spend alot of money as well as the shops to make alot of money.

Right. It's the things we do every day, most of them little that let people know we care about them.
