Aside from cold and allergy medicine, what's the best remedy you know of for a stuffy nose? My allergies have been bad lately and my nose is very stuffy. I usually use ginger tea as a remedy, but I don't have any ginger handy at the moment.

I won't go into detail but when I'm really stuffed because of allergies or a cold, I reach for my neti pot. You just have to research it yourself because I don't want to initially turn you off by it. Believe me it works wonders after you get past how it works. ‹(°¿°)›

I'm familiar with how a neti pot is used, which is one reason why I haven't tried it, lol. I hate having things in my nose. But if it really works as well as people say it does, I might be able to get past my discomfort. Next time I'm at the health food store, I'll check on the price of neti pots.

This is very annoying and it can affect your sleep if you cant breath. What about filling a bowl with very hot water, putting a towel over your head so you can breather in the vapour. This often helps clear noses. Or go in the bathrom, close the doors and windows and out the hot shower water on full pelt. The steam can help clerar noses too. Or get some fresh lavender, or lavender essence and oput some on a tissue and hold it next to your nose. Put some on your pillow at night too.

I do have some lavender essential oil. I use it for its relaxing effects, but I've never tried it on a stuffy nose. Thanks for the tip.

your turbinates are what makes your nose so stuffy. you could try over the counter nose spray, a nose rinse or sometimes just breathing in steam will help unclog those things! i am going to get my turbinates cautorized on the 23rd of Feb!

For some reason, cauterization just doesn't sound appealing to me! I've never tried a nasal spray because I hate having things up my nose...but it might be time to give it a try.

Try using a steam vaporizer. Have you been tested for sinusitis? My son had been having clogged nose. I thought it was simple colds. I also got rid of all the allergy causing stuffs thinking it was allergy/ When I took him to a doctor (coz it's been more than a month), he was sent to have x-ray to check if he had sinusitis. It was positive. He had sinusitis and he was prescribed with additional medicines (antibiotics) aside from his colds medicine and anti allergy medicine.

Thanks. I do have a vaporizer, but it's cool mist and not hot steam. I find that taking a hot shower helps, though. I'm pretty sure I don't have sinusitis.
