I bought R some tickets for his birthday to see Elton John and Billy Joel in concert in November, so we're going to see them tomorrow. Huh? Well it's because Elton John got sick and the concert got rescheduled. Should be really good, I hope. First concert I've been to, seriously, since John Denver back in the late 70's or early 80's. What's the best concert you've ever been to?

I can't say as to any concerts I've been to as standing out from any others.
My brother was in a band back in the dark ages of rock (actually, that was the name of the band: The Dark Ages, later they became The Last Quarter after a slight personnel change). One summer they used our garage for practice space, so all those free concerts hold a special place in my memory.

That's sad. I am looking forward to watch TFF here in Manila this May. The first concert I watched was Menudo (well, my sister wants to watch it not me and we chaperoned her) when Ricky Martin was still part of the group.

TFF stands for Tears for Fears (Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith), sorry if I got you confused.

Hey Dawn,
First of all, it's great to see you. I'm so glad to see a photo. It just makes it easier to relate to people. As to your question. I have never been to any concert.
I'm not a big fan of large crowds. I get clostraphobic. But there are a few people I'd love to see. I think I'd enjoy Elton John and Billy Joel. But I'd love to see the Eagles. Have fun Dawn, it should be a blast.

Oh, I lied in my previous response. I saw Don Henley, too, and he was really good. I love his voice, and he did a lot of his own songs and some of the Eagles songs, too. I didn't think that his stage performance was as good as Elton John or Billy Joel or even Alabama, but he was still good, and he really does have a great voice.

I love the photo too Dawn...and that really is me in the wedding dress on my profile photo, just thought I'd clear that one up.
As for gigs, well Elton John has actually played at our local football ground, Brunton Park, about 3 years ago. It was brilliant because he just played EVERYTHING with no costume changes or anything. He really is an awesome performer and I'm sooo jealous!
Enjoy!

I have only been to the one that Hank 3 done. I had a blast. I want to go to some more but for the life of me I just haven't had the time since. The one I went to is not near as big as the one you guys are going to but I look forward to going to a big one one day.

We were front row at an Alabama concert, and when I say "front row" I mean that our knees were smooshed up against the stage - well, mine were at least, because I was about eight months pregnant and couldn't fit into the chair any other way.
That was a really good concert. I also saw Billy Joel in concert, which was great. Then my daughter and I saw Billy Joel and Elton John together, and that was great, too. Those were the three best concerts that I have been to, and I don't think that any one of them was better than the other two.
If you like Billy Joel and Elton John, then you will have a great time. If you don't, then you might still enjoy yourself, because they have both been doing this for a long time and really know how to put on a show.

Wow, I guess that I have been to a lot more concerts than I thought. It must be "old-timers" setting in, because I just remembered that I went to see John Cougar Mellencamp, too. That was another great concert. He was all over the stage dancing and singing and interacting with his band and the people in the audience. He had everybody energized and upbeat and really getting into the music. He is another one that I think has an easily recognizable voice, and I just love listening to it. Plus, he was really hot, especially when he was younger!

I've never been to that sort of concert before.
I've been to symphony orchestras, and male voice choirs. The only other concerts I've been to were by the Travellers, a Gospel group which travelled Australia and New Zealand. My son performed with them for a year. That would have to be the best concert I've attended, followed by school concerts in which my sons and grandchildren took part.
Where is my purple Dawn? I didn't like that one when you first started using it, but it became "you" and I miss it. Oh well, if this is going to stay, so be it.

I've been to the opera and the ballet and lots of musicals, but it's been quite some time since I've been to this sort of concert.
Purple Dawn may be back, we shall see!

That should be great! Hope you have a good time.
I've been to a few concerts in my life. When I was a kid I saw the 3 remaining Monkees. I saw the New Kids On The Block. A popular teenage group in the early 90's called Kris Kross. The local hip hop station does a yearly concert jam thing and I went one year and saw among others, Rob Bass and Shaggy. Then the country station did one and I saw Blake Shelton and Buddy Jewel among others.
The best concert I've been to though was a bit over a year ago we won tickets to see Counting Crows and Maroon 5. That was the first time I'd ever really been to a rock concert, and wow! I was really amazed at how hard the musicians worked. I mean they were sweating their butts off but they didn't miss a beat, and they were working it like crazy! I was blown away by the whole thing, I mean we got a really good show.
I tried to win Daughtry tickets about a month ago.. never got through though :(

Hey dawn! That sounds awesome! That should be one incredible
concert! They both are excellent performers and the two of
them together should be like dynamite! I also haven't been to
a concert in many years! The last concert I went to was Bruce
Springsteen and it probably was in the 90's! And believe it
or not I was not impressed! I was never a major Springstein
fan and I was on a date with someone that I really wasn't into!
My favorite concert of all would be hard to pick because I went
to some unbelievable ones like Prince's Purple Rain Tour,
Beach Boys/Chicago, Heart, and a whole lot more! I had alot of
fun when I was younger! How I miss those days!

Wow, you did go to some great ones. I'm a figure skating fan and not long ago there was a skating show where they were skating to Chicago playing live. I would have loved that. Too far away from me though...

Hello, Dawn. Love the new avatar, although I'll miss the purple frock. I went to see Don Williams about 25 years ago, and he was excellent.
I used to go to a lot of concerts in the 1960's, to see British groups such as the Troggs, Gerry and The Pacemakers, the Searchers, etc. One of the best of the lot was a Tamla Motown special, with Stevie Wonder, the Supremes, the Four Tops,
Marvin Gaye and Martha and The Vandellas. It was great.Stevie Wonder was still quite young, but he had a fantastic voice even then.
These days, concerts are out of my price range. I'd like to see the Eagles live - my brother saw them last year and he's still talking about it.

Oh those two are great together when they in a show. I'm not so much into Elton John..but I do like some of his songs. Billy Joel is my favorite, I've been to one of his concerts and I loved it. I have seen some youtube videos of Elton and Billy and they are great...a lot of enthusiasm/excitement and great songs. I'm sure you will enjoy this concert a lot. Have fun

If you like Billy Joel, you'd like the musical "Moving Out" with his songs. I saw that about 4 1/2 years ago in Los Angeles.

In all my 25 years of existence here on Earth, I have only been to one concert. I was 10 then and this artist named Eva Santos (filipina) had a concert in my proviunce because her niece happened to be going to the same school as I was. Most of the people who went there went to the same school.
I really couldn't say if it was best considering the lack of anything to compare it to.

I would have to say it was two different concerts with both Elton John and Billy Joel. I saw them in New York. I can't remember the years exactly but I think one was in the 80's and the other in the 90's. They were so good, what a show they put on. They performed together and separately. It was two of the best concerts I had ever seen. I'm sure you will enjoy the concert, have fun.

Elton John and Billy Joel, although not my cup of tea personally, are two VERY talented performers.
As for me, the best concert I have ever been to was Daft Punk's Alive concert back in 2007. Me and a couple of friends who are also big fans of this musical duo experienced the most thrilling concert we have ever been to in our lives. The atmosphere was practically electric
