Can you use the bathroom cubicle when someone else is in the adjacent one ?

I am talking specifically public bathrooms like the one at my office.Sometmes I have to use the bathroom at my office for obvious reasons lol.Now sometimes I am in the cubicle doing my thing and I see someone comes in and takes the cubicle next to me and I almost always freeze no matter how smooth and at ease I was. Now I think there should be some rule which says"NEVER USE A CUBICLE IF THE ADJACENT ONE IS OCCUPIED" and this is how I do my thing .If I am about to use acubicle and I see someone in the adjacent one I simply leave or if it is really urgent ,I atleast go two cubicles down because I think this is a very private moment and I dont want to intrude. What are your views?

Interesting take on the use of the restroom. Really I'm not too worried unless I'm going #2 & everyone in the whole potty can smell that! or are taking care of monthly issues and you know someone hears you unwrapping the hygene product ect. But it is what it is I guess....

I hate having to number 2 in public. Also hate that time of the month in public. Or walking into a bathroom with drips of blood on the seat! I gag!

C - you think that's bad! I remember walking into a mall bathroom stall when I was a teen and grossing out! Someone must of had it super bad + a bad clot (the size you'd probably need to be hospitalized for!) it was the most replusive toileting experience I'd ever seen.

I usually don't have any problems with using a cubicle if the nearby ones are also occupied. However I won't feel myself as easy as I would if there was nobody in the bathroom. I just tell myself that everyone does it and there is nothing to be ashamed of. There are some people who do their thing right on the toilet seat, it's disgusting, so these low-minded people should be ashamed of how they behave in public bathrooms.

Wow, I have the same problem when using a restroom. If someone comes in no matter where they go in the restroom I can not go pee anymore until they leave. It's not that I don't want to keep going. It's like my body shuts down and won't keep peeing. I also don't like it when there are multiple stalls and someone walks in and takes the one right next to yours. Why cant they move down a couple stalls so someone has more privacy.

I try to avoid public restrooms, but it isnt always avoidable. I also try to find one away from an occupied. Anyway, one day before christmas I was taking my kids into one at the mall. And someone got into the bathroom right next to us,she was talking on her cell phone while peeing!! I heard her conversation about a party and her private moment at the same time. I think thats just soo wrong!

I have never really thought about it. When I have to go I have to go. I prefer to be at home, but if I have to go in a public restroom then i go. We have the method of having to use the facilities. Sometime you do not have a choice. It sound like there may be privacy issue present. I know my has a fit if you do not go the bathroom to blow your nose or sneeze. I mean I see the blowing of the nose, but sneezing . A little out of your control there. That's having to use the restroom when someone is near you,. If you can hold until its clear then great, if you can't then you have to face your privacy issues and do the best to deal with it.

No I am not. Something that may seem normal or acceptable behavior to you may not be to others or in other social settings. You are to excuse yourself to do your thing according to my mom (by then its probably over with anyway). There is a typo in statement too. It was suppose to say my MOM has a fit that you do not go to the bathroom to blow your nose or sneeze so in case she does not have to see anything running out of it that you cannot catch. Now that I explained in greater detail. Do you understand it? I could careless. Its a natural act that everyone does it. So you should feel comfortable doing what is normal to do. Every culture and family has their own views on what is acceptable and not acceptable which they pass on to their children (or try to ) to carry on their beliefs or customs no matter tedious or unrealistic it may be to others.

If I need to use a public washroom and there is someone already in the cubicle next to a vacant one, it really doesn't matter to me. If I have to go, I have to go and that is what the public washroom is there for. I can understand your reluctance however but for me it just doesn't matter.

The public men's rooms in East Asia and just one long trough with water slowly running along. When a man need to do his thing he steps up to the trough whips it out and lets it run. There may be 6 or 8 on either side doing the same. Some are long, and some are short, but they all serve the same purpose. So whats the Big thing about this?

I need my space. I can't go when somebody is next to me. Its a private thing anyway, besides I leave the door open when I'm at my own home and I don't spend a whole lot of time in there anyway but having somebody next to me is just going to delay it. I'll leave if somebody is there, when I use a public bathroom I try to pick the last stall on the end farthest from the door so if somebody else enters they can use the first or one in between me. I'm courteous like that.

I often transfer from another cubicles usually the one in the back and not the on the first corner especially if my purpose is not just to pee but also to discharge my wast since i do not like to be disturb and disturb at the same time. Since, i a embarrass other person could heard the sounds of my release so I make sure i look for the back corner when no one could easily notice what i am doing with no one could disturb me when i take longer before i comes out in the cubicle.

Sometimes I have no other choice but to do so despite my personal preferances. I would rather do it then risk an accident that I would not be able to clean up. Though it has to eaither have support bars, or be wheelchair accessable. I prefer the ones that allow my wheelchair to go in with it. I'm always so paranoied something is going to happen to it if I have to leave it behind.

Well, we wil have to pass it away as soon as possible if it isvery urgent and wait for the person to come outside and then rush in if it is not so urgent! But, there must be a proper strong wall in between! And, finish it soon!

yes I have been in some where the walls are so high and toliets so low u can see skin on the person next to you now I dont want to see butt while i go to the bathroom. Or when u get the mom next you that has a kid stick their head under and say hi!

Hi! yes, i can use them, but I actually don't feel very nice if someone else is next to me, and if there is a free toilet cabin, I use it, because I have the feeling that someone is watching me and feel really uncomfortable!

It just depends on what I have to do, but if someone else is in there I tend to go down two cubicles too, or get as far away from them as I can. I don't mind being in there when someone else is, as long as I'm just doing number 1, if I need to do number 2, I'll wait till its empty..haha.

It’s a common issue I think! I don’t like doing anything ‘time consuming’ in public toilets but sometimes it cannot be helped. Being a female, unless there is tell tale odours and sounds coming from the stall, I have no idea who is doing what in there so I just go in do what I have to do and get out of there all the while hoping no body is going to be embarrassed!

Well that is a nice principle and one that I follow too ,I try not to spend too much time in the bathroom especially public one .I also try not to to let anything that is being done in the othe rstall affect me although I am not always able to remain oblivious

I'd like to not have to potty with someone right "next door" but I have no choice. I work in a retail job, and we don't have an employee bathroom, just the public one, and the public one only has 2 stalls. When I gotta go at work I gotta when when I have time, no matter if someone is in one of the stalls or not. I only have limited time to pee.

When it is not a really crowded situation, I will never use the stall that is right next to one that is already occupied. However, if it is a crowded situation where you have to wait in line to be able to use the restroom I will use whichever stall opens up first because I must have to use the bathroom pretty bad to be willing to wait in line to use the bathroom. I think that there should be more stalls available in all public restrooms.
