How do you want it - rare, medium rare, or well done

After watching the food network, it seems like the proper way to eat a steak is medium rare (more emphasis on rare). It looks delicious on TV (hungry just thinking about it) but I actually like my steak more well done. I found out that I don't like the texture of semi-cooked meat. Why is it what looks good is different that what I want? I mean, I still get hungry seeking medium rare meat. How do you like your steak?

Isn't it so weird that some foods can look so good and then end up not being to your taste? I think for me, it would be salmon or tuna sushi. The bright pink color of the raw salmon or tuna looks so pretty, but when I eat the sushi it just feels mushy in my mouth. I prefer sushi with cooked fish or just vegetables. With steak, on the other hand, I prefer medium-rare. Actually, in terms of flavor I think rare is even tastier, but I feel that medium-rare is a little safer as the internal temperature gets higher. The majority of bacteria on a piece of meat is on the outside surface, so if you cook the outside surface most of the bacteria gets killed. I've never gotten ill from eating my steak medium-rare or rare. And I've also read that rare steak is better for you than well-done steak. When you cook a piece of meat thoroughly, some of the vitamins and nutrients in it break down. So the less cooked your steak is, the more nutrients it contains.

I can really relate with you about the raw fish. The colors are so beautiful and it looks really appetizing. BUt the mushy-feeling is something that I can't stand. My sister is the exact opposite - she insists on eating fish raw. She says it tastes like fruit (from the sea) and is more fatty and delicious that way. As for me, I insist on my fish to flake when I put it in my mouth.

I know most of the people here like their steaks medium rare. It looks mouth-watering experience to eat it. It's somewhat pinkish to reddish in color. But I don't like that...I want my steak well-done to be sure that it's been thoroughly cooked. I want it savory, something spicy and sweet, hmmm...yummy! I love that with mixed vegetables and a little garlic rice. Solved!

I used to avoid most meat because my mom always cooked things too dry. I couldn't stand eating dry meat. So I would stick with chicken. Then when I moved out and started cooking my own steaks. It still was a few years before I discovered rarer steaks. But I was able to cook my steaks juicy. Then a friend had us try a bite of his rare steak. It was pretty good though really rare. I love my steaks medium rare. It has a great flavor and it is nice and juicy.

I do love a good rare steak. it's just so much sweeter and more tender than one that's been cooked too much. the only downside is that it gets cold quicker. but it's so tasty I'd never ask for anything more than rare. I like a steak that makes it's own ketchup

IF I choose to eat a steak I definitely want it well done. I don't want it completely dried out though, but I don't want any pink showing at all. That's just nasty! Well Done period!!

I am the same way as you, I really hate the semi-cooked food, I like it well done, I know that the reason why the steak is not well done most of the time is because then the meat become harder, but still, I prefer it that way, than see the blood that sometimes come out of a medium rare steak, besides for some reason my stomach can't tolerate it, I always have to have any meat well cooked, because if not I will have really bad stomach pains. But I still love meat, I don't think i would ever be able to live without meat.

I like my steak cooked medium but since I'm always watching my weight I tend to get it cooked well done. It's a slight bit lower in calories that way because more of the fat cooks off.

I prefer to go about my life doing things the improper way. I can't choke down a steak that isn't fully cooked. It may as well be squirting blood, with a pack of wolves surrounding it if you serve it that way. This is why I avoid the food network in the first place. They always find a way to make things I don't enjoy eating look like the stuff I would enjoy eating. It's confusing to my eyes and stomach. ARG!

I used to eat my steak rare, then I got pregnant and was afraid to eat it rare. So then I switched to well done while pregnant. Now I always order and cook it medium.I just want a little pink in the middle.Medium rare and rare do not have much difference to me.

I used to like it somewhat rare but now I get it more well done! I geuss I have seen where people say you need to cook your meat well, so that is why I cook it well. I do find myself going to the hometown steakhouse and getting more medium rare sometimes! I geuss it all depends on my mood on what kind of steak I get! Kind of weird.
