Do you look at the driver's face first before riding a public vehicle?

Hahaha. I know it's not right to judge by the physical aspects of a person, but if you think the driver seems reckless, would you still ride in that public vehicle? Wanted to know your opinions about this. Because I'm most of the time like that that's why it takes me hours before I enter a specific public vehicle :) Hehe X

Funny but i usually look at the vehicles appearance than it's driver. If a vehicle is decent enough then i would usually feel more comfortable riding in it since there's less likelihood of engine problems. Besides i don't really transfer vehicles if the driver looks like a hoodlum. I'm less worried about a driver's appearance because more often it's the passengers who are usually the robbers.

Please don't close the idea that those who are not-so-good looking are those who has bad intentions. According to my friend those who are actually wearing formal attires are usually those who have bad intentions.. just to cover up themselves.

Hello ybong, Most specially those drivers who aren't wearing decent clothes, some had holes in his clothes, some are smelly and most are pretty much rude. but i think most of them are colorum kind of vehicles. that's why i hope if gordon wins he would put a color scheming on the public transports nationwide so that no one would have to look like a criminal

Hi LK, i don't really find it disturbing if the driver's clothes have holes in it, as long as he doesn't smell and most importantly not rude . A driver's appearance is his problem since he should realize that passengers often came up with wrong impressions based on appearance. It's a good thing if our transport system can come up with some sort of a scheme to identify whose legit and whose not but then again this won't really keep the bad guys from coming up with ways to do no good.

you rally are choosy in riding a public transport.i dont look at how the driver look but i look on the vehicle first.if i think its fast and can take me to where im going in the soonest possible time then i ride it right away.i also hate riding public transport that is already full and you have to squeeze in just to have a ride i wait for a suitable bus that has less passengers.

I look at everyone's faces when riding a public vehicle not only on the driver. I look for possible hold-upers or possible maniac hahahahahaha. We do not know if we are safe inside a vehicle. and I look at the driver's face all the time much more if he did not return my change, of course i am checking on it, its so hard to have money this days. We only know if the driver is reckless when he started to manouver the vehicle. If he started to move the vehicle like he is flying an airplane, we must pray for our life or stop the vehicle and ride another PUJ for safety.

I agree. Our life is so valuable and we only have one life so we should take good care of it and make the most out of it. ;D

Wouldnt you have to look at the driver when you're going to tell him where you're headed..?You have to look at them if they will be able to transport you or the other passengers are going a different way. That's what I usually do but of course there are times when the faces dont register anymore. I mean I wont recognize them anymore even when Ill have the chance to get in their vehicle again. Then again there are those public transports that have the same routine as you do so you would see them a few times per week. That's when I recognize the drivers. I do have those drivers that I avoid because they seem to be sleeping at the wheel, or they're too horn-happy (loves to blow their horns even when unnecessary), or the worst are those who feels like they're "The Transporter" or maybe a NASCAR speed racer. Looking at the drivers' face in the way that you do is just a precaution. Sometimes first impressions do last so it's always better to be safe than sorry.

I agree with this so much. Sometimes I even go down the bus if it gets too speedy or if I think it's dangerous even if I already paid. :(

Woah, that seems like just a waste of fare. Cant you wait until you're near your destination before you pay, or passengers really need to pay first before taking a seat? That's what I do when using the public transport. I dont immediately give the fare but I wait until the jeep is near my stop then I give the fare.

My answer is no. It's not that I'm being judgmental or something when I perceive that this driver is reckless, it's just that I am enough of breaking a bone again. I don't want it to happen again. I got this phobia when it comes to riding jeepney 'cause I got an accident before because of reckless driving of the jeepney driver. It took me some months to walk again and rise in a public vehicles. If before, I tend to ride the one who runs fast, now I am being picky in choosing and riding a public vehicle. There's no way it is going to happen again, especially with a jeepney and most especially because of a reckless jeepney driver! I acted maturely when dealing with the drivers and conductors, when unexpectedly, they speed up too much, I usually complain, and i never get shy to complain, anymore since that accident. Crazy, stupid drivers, they aren't just dealing with their own lives. They'll be surely haunted forever. LOL =D

But most of the time, when you confront the drivers about their reckless driving, they intentionally make it faster :( that's why I transfer to another public vehicle instead.. whether I already paid or not.

Yes, right. It happened to me. If they don't listen I just transfer. I think it's better riding a bus than a jeepney because it's quite bigger. Next school year, I'm going to rent an apartment to avoid to much rides. 0_o

I don't usually look at the driver's face when I ride public transits... I look at my seatmate... I have this friend when seated beside a very ugly and suspicious looking guy, She would say that he's a snatcher..It's not nice to judge someone by his appearance but sometimes you just can't help it.. ^^.

Please don't close the fact that those suspicious looking and ugly guys are those who have bad intentions. Sometimes even the good looking ones, those whom you would never have thought of (ladies, pregnant women) are the ones who also have bad intentions. :) So it's always important for us to be aware :D

of course, you could not tell the driver, ops, sorry, i won't ride in your cab. and you will wait for another cab to come. the usual thing i do when i ride a cab to to talk with the driver and make friends with them. usually, i get the cab name, body or plate number, telephone number, name of driver. and if i am in doubt that something not good might happen, i send a text message to my nearest relative or friend the information.

If I have to get somewhere, it'd be a bit crazy of me to judge a bus driver before getting on said bus. I don't care what the driver looks like, so long as he or she can get me to where I need to go on time. That's what matters.

Hello cecille, sometimes it's better to look in his face then look at the passengers at his back. if he's calling you and give you number of vacant seats then look at the back so that you will know if he's telling he truth or not and check his driving movements before he looks at you to know if he's a reckless driver or not.

I agree.. I also consider how the bus comes near to me when I choose a bus plus the face of the driver. I'm not being judgmental but sometimes it shows on the outside or in his aura. :) hehehe thanks and God bless!

If I could then I wouldn't. It doesn't matter to me and I don't think that it was possible to determine just at looking at them. However, I don't have a choice. I either ride public transit or my arms would be wheeling myself down the sidewalks of south daytona and the areas trying to get from place to place which is rather dangerous.

It doesn't matter to me anyway. Our observation can be wrong sometimes. For me, it's more advantageous if I ride on a high speed public vehicle. Why? - because I usually go to school late, I need to go there right away. :)

Really? Me I'd rather go to school late than ride in a fast speed vehicle. :( I don't like that! That's why I always give allowance when I have to ride a public transport. :)

Hahaha me too :) Like you I don't really intend to judge on the outside but sometimes you just can't help it because nowadays it's so hard to trust on anyone. I even tend to judge those who are good-looking or professionally dressed because sometimes they are even the ones who has bad intentions.. as experienced by my friend. tsk tsk i hope the next president of our country will approve the capital punishment :(

I've never ridden on a public vehicle but I'm sure if I did I would do and feel the same way! I seem to do that anyways without actually thinking about that. It's hard not to judge a person by there appearance!

I agree because when you have bad personality most of the time it also shows on your aura regardless if you're physically attractive or not. I know pretty people who wastes their pretty face by always frowning :(

it look like you take a long time to thinking about the drive's face before you riding a public vehicle. more longer you analisis his face so more longer your mind stuck with it. at last you can just get headache. for me,if i take a public vehicle,i just look at his situation, if he look just like bad attitude leave that guy but if he nice to you and speak well to you just take his service.thats all, dont make a long time to look at their face. that my opinion.

In my area people board the bus from rear end so less chance of looking at the driver. Generally I don't pay much attention but if something worries me, well I would better wait.

I usually don't pay attention to who is driving. I just don't have time to, I just hop inside the bus and try to find some calm place where there is no pushing between people.

I did not look at it specially when I am going home right away to have some important appointments. I just look at him when I am on the seat while he is driving and I can sense his driving is harsh or different. But I prefer to ride in a driver who is older enough its because they drive slowly and properly than others. Also happen to me that I told the driver to drive slowly for I already felt uneasy in his way of driving the vehicle.

For me, I dont do it. There is no relationship between the drivers looks to how he drives except when he looks like a drunkard.. lolx ^_^ Here in the Philippines we have lots of mode of tranportation. A type that can be related to this discussion is the Habal-habal. For me, when the driver looks like an irresponsible person, I usually choose to ride on with the other driver even if it is his turn. I hate to ride on Habal habal with a driver that looks like an addict. I feel like I am paying him something for his vices.

HI cecellecarmela, its very difficult to judge to persons attitude by his physical aspects, though we easy many persons looking very strange and ugly and suspicious there will be few good ones in them also. Even i do see the drivers face first before riding a public vehicle. Have a great day.

Good day to you CecilleCarmela, With reference to your question, there are times I look on the driver's face before riding a public utility vehicle, especially if there are only few passengers inside. However, as I observed, now a days, good looking faces is not a reliable basis, because it sometimes deceives. And a good looking face does not go parallel on the person's attitude. There are times, those good looking faces are the one who possess the improper attitudes.
