I find it interesting when someone dares to question the existence of a deity that instantly you are labeled an Atheist. Are not question a good thing. At one time we believe that the Sun revolved around a flat Earth. Ironically some of those that dare to question the flat Earth was the center of the universe were brunt at the stake or were put to trail by the Church, Galileo and Bruno come to mind. Maybe there is not a deity, maybe there is, but should we not at lest think about it without being close minded.

people SHOULD question their beliefs. I know mine are strong, because I question them continually. this isn't lack of faith. rather it's a willingness to explore how solid my beliefs are. if you don't question them, how can you ever be sure they're real

I agree with you, it's not bad to question, in fact, it's good!

The very definition of Atheist is someone who questions the existence of God or deities... so the label would be correct. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism "Atheism, defined most narrowly, is the position that there are no deities. More broadly defined, it is the rejection of belief in the existence of any deities, with or without an assertion that no deities exist. The broadest definition classifies atheism as the absence of belief that any deities exist."

I just gave the dictionary definition of what an atheist is. Your comment is meaningless in the context of my response.

you've interpreted the dictionary definition wrong. an atheist isn't someone who questions the possibility of deity. an athiest has already made up their mind. if you believe completely that there are no deities, then you are not leaving room to question it. you have already made your conclusion and decided the other option is not a possibility.

questioning the possibility of something is not the same as not believing in it. by questioning something you weigh up the information and make an informed conclusion

If conversation and debate never used ridicule and insult, the topics would not become so charged.. Unfortunately all groups have their 'bad apples'..

To question the existence of God does not make one an atheist, it makes one an agnostic. An atheist does not question the existence of God, and atheist is convinced there is NO God at all. Agnostics haven't decided yet one way or the other.

Actually, it doesn't even make you an agnostic. Faith is not the opposite of doubt. all the best urban

Questioning the existence of God -- whether you seriously doubt or not -- is a healthy thing. In asking questions, we not only disover what others believe, but what we ourselves believe. If one's faith cannot endure questions (and perhaps some uncomfortable or partial answers) then it is faith without substance or strength. Those who object loudly to the questioning are hiding their own weakness, even as a bully shouts, then runs away when someone stands up to him. Keep asking, gewcew23. Perhaps we'll discover some answers together.

Ya, i have asked this question to myself, god exists really. I believe god is there. Its up to one's belief in which form the god resides. I believe there is a super power than human that controls the negative character of a human life. For some it may be there mom and dad, for others it may be the nature. So in real, no one is Atheist, its just in what they believe they are different.

I think it is how your question is asked and how you relate your question. Questions are actually good, if the purpose is for enlightenment rather than just for stubborn sarcasm. When we question about the existense of a god and or of God we must ask ourselves first are we ready to open our minds and probably our hearts to whatever explanation any side could offer. The talk abot God and religion is always a hot topic and comes to no definite or single conclusion but the answer will always remain true but different in every individual.

I believe that God gave us brains so we could put them to good use and one of those uses is to try to figure out the order of the universe. I think He expects us to question His existence, otherwise why would we have free will? It's those that don't question that I worry about--they will accept everything they are told and mill about like sheep.

One who questions is at least looking for answers. Don't give up your search for God. God can be found. It is great that you question and search rather than follow. So much that is said about God simply isn't true. It's much better to discover for yourself.Always remember, Everything about God will always add up. If it doesn't, it's man or you just do not understand God yet.Look deeper. God is very very smart. That is why so few understand Him.

I guess it depends on the tone of your questioning. Some questions are not asked in the spirit of honest inquiry, but rather to inflame and embarrass the one being questioned. I'm sure you are referring to legitimate questions asked in the spirit of inquiry and a search for truth.
