when i was on senior high school, i always turned my mobile off once i arrived at home. so if my friends couldn't reach me by the mobile, they'd know that i was at home and they could call my home number. but now, i never turn my mobile off, except if i am on the forbidden area for having a mobile turned on, such as some spots of the hospital, or on the plane. i usually just turn on its silent mode if i don't wanna be distracted by its rings. my reason is about the same as you, rosey. i'm considering if the caller's call is important i can receive it at once.

Good Day rosey19, Well in my case I never turned off my cell phone when I am going to sleep. I usually put it above my pillow. And I think it is very advisable for us to usually make sure that our cell phone is always on whenever and whatever time it is, cause we can never tell when and where emergency circumstances may occur. It might happen during at night our friends and family will be needing our help and the only way to contact us is through our cellphones.

Hi, Rosey.:-) I don't turn off my phone when I sleep. I usually put it on my bed side table so I can easily reach for it whenever there is an emergency call. I don't turn on the alarm either and I set the mode in a silent mode except for incoming calls which is set in a very low tone. This is for emergency purposes only plus I don't want to miss any important text messages when I woke up. As long as it doesn't disturb my sleep or anybody else's sleep, there's no use to turn it off.

I do turn on my mobile. Because of 2 reason. I stay far from my home and i live alone in my hostel without my parents. They can call me anytime or my friend from my country they can also call me on that time that's why i always turn on my mobile. Second things i also use my cell phone as my alarm. So i need to turn on my mobile.

i agree with you and that's a good reason to keep it on during the night. it is because we may never know that there would be some emergencies that needs our help, then we can immediately rescue them or extend our help to them. have a great day.

My cellphone is on 24/7. At night I keep it on my desk because I use it as an alarm clock too.

I never really turning off my cellphone while sleeping. But i usually turn my cellphone into silent mode. I don't want to be disturbed by any sound while sleeping. I think having enough and good sleep is very important for us and we need to have at least 8 hours of sleep with relax mind. So if there's any sound disturbing us, it can affecting our sleep quality. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

I turn my cellphone off, and leave it by my laptop on the table. I don't get calls at night so I figure I don't need it on at night, and it does conserve the battery as well. Some peiople will put their phone under their pillow, but I find that to be dangerous, and I would much rather keep it away from my head when I skeeo at night. If I do forget to turn my cellphone off, then I still will leave it on the table by my laptop. Take care, and happy mylotting.

anyway not all the time that you will have callers or text during the night unless you have so many friends that would like to call or text you in the middle of the night. if that so you can switch to silent mode or vibrate it.

i think most of us use our cellphone as alarm clock which is a very convenient in our part because it is easy to use and very handy. we can just put it under our pillow without disturbing or worrying us if it falls down. thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I also keep my cellphone on, the idea of having a cellphone is so that people can contact you immediately when there is something important or urgent to tell you. I don't see the use of having a cellphone if you are going to turn it off at night. There is also this problem with the network that if you turn your phone off at night, when you open it in the morning, you don't get the messages immediately, something you don't get them at all. I don't want to be in a situation when someone would text me something important and I will not be able to get the message.

I have mine on and usually charging in the other room. I don' have it on for others to call, since I have a house phone and everyone has THAT number, if they need to call me. I usually only use the cell when I am away from the house.

My current mobile phone has been with me for six (6) months now, more or less. This device serves as a communication tool for me and my husband. I bought this after I received my early retirement pay from my previous employer. And it's been months that my husband had to work far away from me and our daughter. He is quite the jealous type of guy and he likes me to always text him on a daily basis. In fact, he's my only textmate until I got my present job; wherein I had to provide my mobile phone number to the office for work-related matters. Eventhough I send messages to only a few people, I still consume a considerable amount for this device. So to answer your query on this particular discussion, I rarely turn my cellular phone off, even at night time and even if I wanted to. When I receive a message from him, he expects that I reply as soon as possible or as soon as I wake up. Personally, I feel that I can be myself more without this device. Not that I'm hiding anything or what, I find it rather annoying that my husband had to check on me even when I'm busy at work. Back in those days when I don't own one, he had no way of checking in on me from time to time. He still calls me in the office through the landline phone, but not as often as now.

I turn it off. Otherwise, it'll ruin my sleep and I get cranky. The call can wait but my sleep can't
