What causes the socks to smell bad?

Is it the feet itself that cause the socks to smell bad? some people said, they have smelly feet. Well, sometimes hubby has smelly socks. I am not sure if it is because of his feet or anything else? It does not occur often. I wonder maybe when he put on his socks while his feet is still wet? is that the reason why people have smelly feet? At times he will use foot powder to get rid of the smell but it keeps on coming back every now and then. What do you think are the most common causes of smelly feet?

Yeah bebs..in what i understand..every feet especially during warm or hot summer days moist..maybe it's natural...the big problem there is if we would wear not cotton fabric kind of socks...most likely to polyster kind or any kind except cotton one trigger our smelly feet...that's what i observe...

I think that this is the sweat and soil that makes socks smell bad. Socks don't smell bad when there are no feet inside them, right?
I think that soil and sweat mix up inside the socks and create some really badly smelling combination. However, I don't know why do the feet of your hubby smell especially bad during the cold season.

Yes maybe he is not drying his feet enough before wearing his socks and even if he does maybe his sweat smells bad at certain times. My husband also had that problem before. His feet used to smell during cold season. It was quite funny why during cold season?
But not anymore funny when the odor is reaching my nose. I hate it! Well, we were able to solve his problem by simply using tawas powder. It has been very effective. Also never, ever use the socks twice. After using once have them laundered. Before wearing new socks make sure the feet is fully dried up then apply tawas powder. If tawas powder is not available in your place then use the commercial foot spray or powder. That will surely help!

Hi, @Bebs08! I learned from a doctor in one local TV program here that sweat does not have any smell. It's the bacteria that accumulate in our sweat which is causing bad smell.
Do your hubby's feet sweat? Getting rid of those sweat is very expensive but getting rid of bad smell is so cheap and easy. Use alum. It's the best.
