So i hear the new iPad comes out on March, but is it worth $500? Isn't the functionality like an iPhone but with a bigger screen. I've heard that iPad only runs softwares that is downloaded from apples store. Plus aren't there charges for every month if you want the internet access everywhere? or is there a contract? I have to say though, the screen looks really attractive and it would be a really nice gift.

Theres no way Id ever spend the money they want for that over-sized ipod touch. Theres no camera, no mic, no flash media, no downloading unless from the App store, no multi-tasking...seems quite useless to me, Id rather spend 150 on a good quality e-reader, because essentially, thats all it is good for, albeit, at a very high price.

Van_City, You make some valid points. However, if it's an e-reader, you really don't need a camera or mic for what you want to do. But I hear you just the same. And with that in mind, I think that's a bit much to speak on.

yes it is $499, but i guess the price is reasonable. It has a 9.7 inch, LED- backit IPS display with a remarkable precise Multi-Touch screen. And yet , at just 1.5 ponds and 0.5 inch thin. It's easy to carry and use anywhere.

I will say it like this: If you have that kind of money to burn, why not? go and do what you want. but if you are an average joe trying to make it and you want a bang for your buck, get something else, and let the price come down a bit. This make right here is the first of many to come. I see it go down like $359 or so by next year.

If you use it only for internet browsing and like reading e-books it's definitely worth the price. It so convenient doing those things on the new Ipad than doing it on an Iphone or from a netbook. Internet access is through 3g I think and there is no contract you can terminate your subscription anytime as what Steve Jobs say's during his presentation. The design as expected very elegant as always does that's the culture of Apple good designs.
