How long have you've been married?

Me and my husband are going to celebrate our 7th yr wedding anniversary on Feb. 22nd. We're going to Las Vegas this Friday and come back Monday. It's funny how we celebrate it every year while we go through ups and downs of our marriage. There were times that I thought it was not going to work out and we'll end up in divorce but here we are still holding on. How about you? How long have you been married to your spouse? How do you celebrate your wedding anniversary every year?

Hi gicolet, Congrats! Celebration at Las Vegas sounds exciting =) Share your plans (if convenient). I'll be celebrating my 7th wedding anniversary come 22 Mar =) Have no plans yet... I'll try to have something different every year, like romantic dinner, self-composed (mushy) poems, etc. How about you? I know what you mean... marriage is not a bed of roses. It can be so difficult at times, with many factors like familiarity, complacency, personality/style clashes, etc. coming into the picture as time goes on. Different marriages work differently. For mine, we're still discovering each other - the good, the bad and the ugly. I pray that this journey will only serve to strengthen our bond as we get to know each other better and also as we grow individually. How do you overcome differences?

Thanks. This will be the second time that we're going to LV for our anniversary. We're just going to watch some shows and enjoy some nice dinner. Congratulations to you too. I'm just exactly one month ahead of your own anniversary :) Differences? I overcome them by being patient and my husband learns from me when it comes to that. Being optimistic is what I learn from him in return and that's probably why we're still together...hopefully forever.

Hi gicolet, Thanks for sharing about your LV program. Have a romantic time! Yup, yup, a month apart - that was what attracted me to your post =) Hey, from your description of your relationship, sounds like you both are complimenting and influencing each other positively, be it consciously or unconsciously. That's wonderful! Let's enjoy the present and expect the best in our spouse and in our relationship with each other =) I've read somewhere that a marriage breakdown is sometime sparked off by a little seed of negative/resentful thought about your partner. And when given plenty of "nurturing", it will "grow" dangerously and "harvest" undesirable actions. Heee, just sharing a little =))

Well, congrats on your 7th year! There a belief here in our country that if you have passed the 7th year of your marriage then, your marriage will go a long, long way. Both of you have overcome the adjustment period and the ups and downs of married life. Congrats again. As for me, well, we've been married for almost 26 years! Yes, we've gone a long way. I admit that we've been so many ups and downs, but having our children to consider, we were able to surpass them all. Now, as we go to our retiring age, we just look forward to taking care of our future grandchildren to get us through.

I've been married to my husband for almost 17 years now. Like you, we've had our shares of ups and downs (what marriage doesn't?), but we're still holding on after all these years. As for celebrating our anniversary goes, we just make sure to make time for the two of us. Happy mylotting!
