Literally hundreds of photographs. A camera goes with me everywhere. I also like to get souvenir pins and/or patches from each location I visit. I have a hat for the pins and a travel/hiking vest for the patches. If I hike in a national park or on a famous trail like the Appalachian Trail, I look for stick medallions for a special hiking staff I have.

When I travel I look for anything that looks handmade. I really like unique objects that catch your eye when you walk by them. I have many framed photography and a couple paintings that I found. I really look for any thing that is glass. Glass blown work is amazing and most of it is unique, expensive though. If I can find a good book about the area that I traveled to I will buy it because then I always have some thing that will tell me about that area in case I forget over time. I always try to get something every time I travel some place, it could be very small or a rather large piece. I love collecting things too, it's something that I enjoy!

I have travelled to several countries and my favourite shopping is for chocolates and small things just to remind me of my holidays. I picked up magnets for putting on the fridge (whatever they are called!),stuffed toys, perfumes, some garments and such nick knacks. I even picked up shells from different beaches!

hi icesmile! When I travel for some vacation or just a trip for a day, I mostly like to buy some souvenirs specific right for that place that I have visited. These are usually some wooden icons or some traditional clothes, or something like that

One of my goals was to see all the national parks and monuments in the United States. I would collect park/monument brochures, receipts, newspapers and permits. In 1996, after I'd seen all the parks and monuments in the West, but was still returning to the West on visits, I decided I wanted to visit all the Indian Reservations/Rancherias in the United States (another goal). I started collecting Native American arts and crafts. My great room is filled to the brim with paintings, dolls, jewelry, dance sticks/rattles, cradleboards, walking sticks, masks, etc. I still haven't reached either goal, but I have run out of room and money.

I used to collect all sorts of things in my travels, but these days I am happy to have photographs and memories. I don't really have the space to keep collections of souvenirs now.

I collect costume dolls from different countries. I bought a wooden doll in Romania. In the Seychelles I got two dolls made from material. In South Africa I got a family of dolls made from colorful beads. I usually buy a few postcards to add to my collection of those. I like to bring home some foreign currency. My favorite that I have got so far are the three dollar note and triangular coin from the Cook Islands.

wow such a nice discussion buddy... i love to bring things which are unique in that place... for example when i was travelling to shirdi {its a wholly place in India near Mumbai} i brought home mud pots which were used to sell lassi {it is made from curd and sugar} those pots were so lovely and i did not have heart to throw them off... moreover i do not look into cost before i bring home something. its the uniqueness of the product that appeals to me... cheers happy mylotting

The last trip I took without my girls was to Japan. I took and wore a heart locket with their pictures in it. It made me feel like I had them close to my heart.

Normally just photos. I used to buy stuff, dolls for example, but at some point I decided it was pointless and that I should rather save the money I used to buy stuff and use them to travel more. Space at home is also a bit limited, and I don't want to fill my cupboards with things I'll never use.

I would probably get something which is unique to that country I visit, often small and lightweight which is easy to carry around. For example, when I went to China, I bought a keychain with a small furry hand-made panda attached to it. Of course, the most memorable will be the photos that I took in that country.

I like to pick up "art" objects, usually something handmade in the local tradition. I have a nice little collection of carved, wooden masks hanging in my office. Oh, and a beautiful handmade silk rug from Turkey. I had a little too much to drink, compliments of the shop owner, and I ended up buying the rug. I enjoy the rug but I love telling the story of how I got it! I think those are my favorite kinds of memories. Stories of funny situations, interesting experiences, etc. are great to share when you get home and they help you relive your trip.
