What could you do to protect yourself from a cyber stalker?

I really haven't run into that situation but the first thought that popped into my head is try simple things first. Change e-mail addresses, set privacy to any social network you belong to, making sure there's some sort of record of what they have done, like saving emails if they sent you any.

candyfairy21, In the first place, you need to ask yourself how is it that this cyberstalker is able to learn so much about you? The Internet and search engines may be responsible in making the task easier than in the days before the World Wide Web. However, do you realize that it may be because you had put too much personal information on the Internet. It may not be all in one place but with search engines, tiny bits of information can sometimes be pieced together into surprisingly revealing backgrounds. Everything is connected on the Web and you may be inadvertently leaving a breadcrumb trail leading straight to your doorsteps. If your case is just cyberstalking then overcoming and handling would be easy by ignoring or banning or limiting access into your account. Report the culprit to the social networking provider and if the stalker is from your own company, you may even file a report to your local internet service provider. You should be concern that it would not go beyond stalking like taking over your identity to commit crime or steal from your bank account(s).
