Thanks to all those who responded to the initial posting.
We'll keep our eye s on that one too.
But as we know....
The Tiger is about to emerge from his den.
And here are my thoughts:
TIGER DOES NOT OWE US AN APOLOGY!!
Now, I think I'm a lil biased b/c I like Tiger - but, I stand firm on my convictions
Watching (glancing at) a popular show: Inside Ed. - they asked if Elin would be by his side when he makes his announcement?? What do you think??
I think she should be there!! Again (as in the previous post) - If he truly has a problem, he may need his wife to walk him thru it all. This in no way to excuse what he did - it was totally wrong. But, you said... I do; so, do it!! Be there.
When they showed Kobe & (his gorgeous) wife - they still seem to be okay.
It softens the mettle - for a woman to stick by her man and at the same time gently demand more from him; help build his character - not rip it to shreds!!
They were highlighting all the other scandals that has happened in the past months.
Senators, Sports athletes, more Seantors & politicians, etc.
And to me - all their apologies seem trite... but, it's a start.
We need folks to act right before they get caught - which would be more like morally displaying some character and not acting like 'criminals' (my term).
I have never cheated... tho' I'm not married (anymore) either.
Marriage takes 'two committed peole working together'.
So, it's ridiculous to hear someone say an 'adult' movie star - (tv quote) "Gave up her career for him; he told her she was the only one (besides his wife) and b/c he mislead her... he owes her an apology too!" WHAT??? Our world has gone crazy!!
I'm pretty tired of women always playing the vicitm - and crying - and acting like their portion has no accountability in the matter. Elin, and the others just wanna make money. If she's not with him... she will confirm that idea for me!!
FOR BETTER OR FOR WORST -RIGHT??

Duglaiglas,
Paul Chatfield once said:“Scandal is what one half of the world takes pleasure inventing, and the other half in believing.” Scandals just has its audience and their popularity just never fail to cease.
For this Tiger episode, I feel that whatever is happening is no longer a mere smear scandal anymore and as an icon of the professional golf scene and moreover a role model - I feel he has a certain moral obligation to both his sponsors and fans for this recent spate of affairs.
I just do not feel that it is right to keep quiet and that he should come upfront to quell further smears and damages to his name and reputation.
All these will be FOR THE BETTER!

Always great hearing from you - and well said.
I think I more than often delve beneath the surface - to see the good, to see intention. And he does have a moral obligation - but, so do we all. I don't care that he's Tiger Woods, so much as I care that he's human... and fulfilling that obligation. But, that's more my utopian mindset.
What I need an apology for - is why some man decided to fly his plane into the IRS building in Texas. I didn't see that splattered all over the news. We, as your quote portrays - excel at deceiving and diluding ourselves. Let's prevent damage.
I don't need a silly apology.... especially if you don't mean it and have to have a big media storm surrounding it.
There are bigger fish to fry - and deeper issues to resolve; I feel his reputation is secure... He IS one of the greatest golfers around. I don't think that will change. It's his achievement - no one can take that from him. His fans... should continue to be so. Because if everyone wants to start shifting... then they become two-faced (by not shifting along with all the other stuff in one's life that didn't hold up to its name, or worth, or mission).
That's too much shifting... let's start redeeming.
The enormous bump in the road that one may hit - just means it's time to stop and check the tires.... or suffer the blowout later!!

I did not see the apology live.
Tho' I did wait it only seconds ago.... but, what I encountered when I first turned on the tv was news commentary & jokes!! Only to prove - he did not owe an apology b/c most of us aren't even mature enough to see the importance or how hard it really can be to try and make a change. AND...NO SHOCK - Elin was not present.
(Wouldn't it have been great to be able to hug your wife ... and your mom)
Polls asking if they thought he was sincere... Absolutely stupid.
But, again... he (in my opinion) shows charatcer and stands to again protect his family. His money & celebrity (as stated) made it easy for him to err... which would be true of anyone. His loss of structural belief (as stated) and losing his grip on the tenants that have helped to make him great - gave way to these acts. His 'God complex' (as I call it) aided his sense of entitlement and above reproach display... but, the blind CAN SEE - and overcome.
I cheer his hope for bettering himself; he stopped to check his tires - rather than experiencing a total blowout. It's growth!! Human growth.
Get well soon, Tiger!!
(from a casual fan - admirer of all mankind)

Duglaiglas,
To be honest, I wasn't one bit impressed or convinced that his press conference has achieved anything.
IMO, I feel that he should have just merely stayed at home and let his actions speak of his determination to change and for once live with integrity which had left him.
Speech is as usual impressive but how can it not be when it is being composed? I do not know about you, but have a view and form your own opinion.
Take care.
