Now we should send our Constitution to Congress. I would go a step further, highlight specific excerpts in it. I think each one should be personalized.
What do you think?
Time to fire Congress and start with a brand new set of Congress critters?

I don't think the congressmen can get things through their thick heads that easily. The only thing they will listen to is elections. We can only really hope that the voters will oust incumbents who aren't responsible fiscally and care about peoples' rights. Hopefully this will happen in these coming elections.

A, the problem is that many of these problems were caused years ago. The housing crisis started as far back as 1970's. The banking crisis started in the late 1990's. Our current elected officials weren't even born when some of the stuff they are deal with started. Take our deficit: Lets say you had $10,000 worth of credit on your cards, and you decide that you want to live beyond your means, so you start to buy more and more stuff to the tune of $1,000 a year more. Now you income stayed the same, but you just want to live better so you put that excess $1,000 a year on those credit cards, but you pay that minimum balance that covers your interest every year. After 10 years you don't have anymore credit, and you owe $10,000, so now what do you do? This is exactly why we have a huge deficit, Bush never paid for one spending bill, and he only ever vetoed ONE SPENDING BILL. So he spend like a drunken sailor, and didn't even pay the minimum balance. So that is why we are where we are at today. So if you want to kick all of the Democrats out to put the same republicans back in office who made the mess than don't be surprised when nothing changes.

Laglen, I understand your frustration, but this is how our government always has been. We would like to believe that our founding fathers were honest, and would never use the power of elected office to make themselves rich, But they did! If you want to change the way the government is run, I am 1000% in favor of that, but you wouldn't need to change the constitution, you would need a new one. The first thing that you HAVE TO DO is take the MONEY OUT of government!!!! Then our elected officials should be paid on commission, so if the government doesn't make money, they don't make money. You want to get rid of spending, this will do it. They also should be banned from working for any company that does business with the government, or has government contracts. There goes everyone in the pentagon. Then we should charge countries that want us to defend them for these services. How much do you think the greatest military in the world is worth?
Just a few idea Laglen, but those are my opinions.

I know what you mean, and that needs to change. Why should the American people pay for the defense of Saudi Arabia when they sure have enough money to fund it themselves. There is another great way to work down the deficit.
