News Item-A Pennsylvania School that had issued over 2000 laptops to students is facing Lawsuits after one student allegedly was cited for inappropriate behaviour in his home by a Principal..The Evidence? A photo taken by the Laptop Webcam...The school claimed the laptop webcams were only to be remotely activated for the sole purpose of identifying a perp if the machine was ever reported stolen...hmmmm...Looks like somebody didn't get the Memo.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/8523807.stm I'd read elsewhere about this Laptop feature, and had posted a discussion about a Woman who'd had her Laptop stolen, and got it back by using this method... A good idea, when used for the purpose for which it was intended. What do You think?

I have noticed that all laptops have cams built in. If I stole your lap top, I would cover that camera. Duh. It is an invasion of privacy no matter who you are.

The Stolen one came up in a "Dumb Crooks" story, where the thief apparently failed to realise the significance of a webcam on a wireless machine...of course, having "Phone Home" software on the machine that'll report in once it reconnects is good to have too..
