Pop Stars, Athletes, Supermodels — Role Models? Should celebrities be mindful of their positions and strive to behave like role models for kids? Or should they just do what they’re paid to do — entertain us? How do you feel about today’s media stars and the impact their actions have on your child?

There seesms to be two sides to this one. It seems that there's so much focus on them by the media that - well - it can be tough for them to have private lives. It seems to be one of the problems of becoming famous & having fans. It's tough for them to walk down the street & not have it make news. As a result, they do need to behave for the sake of kids who look up to them. If they do something not right, kids would probably do it too, even if they know it's wrong. Do they ACTUALLY behave? I am sure some do. Often, they don't. A lot of rap stars have had brushes with the law, & that sets a bad example.

First off, they are human just like the rest of us. Since that is the case, they are prone to make human mistakes. In my discussions with kids, I find they look up to the folks in their immediate surroundings, not necessarily celebrities. So, in my opinion, I think it is important for parents and family members and friends to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Kids today are quite mature compared to my generation, and the celebrities are food for gossip or just what their role is -- entertainment.
