Hiccup occured when the diapraghm , or the muscle under the lungs, move spontaneously without desired. This movement makes the vocal cords to close with a sudden, and trigger the hiccup sound. in general, hiccups will disappear by itself within a few minutes.

Yeah! I knew about this when I was in high school. I think it has something to do with the abnormal impulses sent by the brain to the diaphragm that's why it is moving spontaneously. Anyway, I dont like having hiccups. Even though it is going to disappear by itself, some hiccups last for more than 30 minutes. I didnt like it that way. I just have to get rid of it. The question now is, how do we get rid of it? =)

I don't know why we hiccup, but I just learned from you. I guess we hiccup because it is part of our human body system. And we always drink water when we hiccup, but I don't know the explanation behind. Thanks for letting us know about hiccups.

3. eating spicy food
4. inhaling harmful gases
