ATM Dispenses Half of my Money

Last night, we run out of medicine for our two year old son. And I also left with nothing in my wallet to buy for the said medicine. So I went to the bank. And of course, it was a Sunday and even if it's not, bank could be closed at that time of the day, as it was already seven in the evening. So I made the withdrawal in the machine. When I arrived the bank, there were about 6 people talking about something, discussing about money, in front of the machines. So i wait for them to finish. What I have learned is this. The first man withdrawn one thousand pesos but to his dismay, the machine only dispensed five hundred pesos. It took them about ten minutes discussing whether he will report it to the guard on duty, or he will return tomorrow to file his complain to the bank clerk when it opens. Then suddenly, lady one suggested, why not try to withdraw another, even one hundred. The lady had thought the other five hundred could have just stocked in the dispenser. So the man did and he was so surprised that the five hundred peso bill went our, a portion of the bill together with the one hundred peso bill. They both were stocked so we help the man pull his money out of the money. And we were successful. The man went home, happy that his money is safe and complete and he don't have to go back tomorrow. What's your ATM stories, would you share something? Come on, we'll be happy to hear your not so interesting moments at the ATM.

hi neil! same thing happened to me at the MRT station (so be careful). no time to do it to some other atm outlets at that time. anyway, good thing i'm already familiar with the flaws of some atm machines and i was able to get it. also had my card eaten by the machine some few years ago. even withdrawn but no money was ever dispensed when i needed it most. darn, i was in the province and all i had were atm and credit card! lesson learned, still important to bring cash. good thing friends are everywhere, hehe! :)

in most of the time, i really have ready cash in my wallet. but do not bring a lot of cash in the wallet as it is also a big problem if wallet gets lost with pickpockets.

hi neildc, LOL. Oh! At least he got all his money but that's weird. But mine is more weird and crazy. I was paying my credit card bills using my atm card(savings). First thing that I did was to check my balance and see how much money I can transfer on my credit card (for payment). Then after that I entered everything and got the receipt. I forgot to get my card out of the atm! I got used with making withdrawals and that is getting my card after I got the money from the machine then the receipt. But in paying bills once you have completed your transaction there is an option there that will ask you if you want to make another transaction (such as withdrawals, balance inquiry, etc) or "cancel" your card. I just left in the machine and go to the nearby store. Then when I'm home I felt that there was something weird, then I realized that I left my card on the booth. Haha! I'm paranoid that time because that was the time I got my christmas bonus and I got some money on my account. I called the service center to block my card and I requested for a new one. The crazy part about it was, I work in the said bank (in head office) and reporting that I forgot to get my card out from the ATM booth was just hilarious.

@ "The crazy part about it was, I work in the said bank (in head office) and reporting that I forgot to get my card out from the ATM booth was just hilarious." that was really funny of you. so what had happen when you reported to your bank (your employer) that you lost your ATM card? they all laughing at you, LOL? i cannot imagine if it happened to me, i will really go crazy to think about it. but what happened to your account? does you money left intact? sure, there's no one used the machine after you left, or else, all your money had lost. i am, with that experience of yours, you are now very very careful in using the atm and your card. thanks for sharing your atm moments.

well, no one can keep that money for so long in the bank. maybe, if we only have so much of what we need, it could stay longer so it can still earn interest. but, with the life so difficult these days?

they were all made fun of me. My co-worker asked me why on the earth I left it inside the booth. Haha! I'm glad that my money was still there. Although, it was all gone now! (after spending it on christmas and new year and on my birthday! haha!)

Hi neildc!^^ If I were the guy, I would have been so nervous and worried that I wouldn't know what to do. And I hate going to the bank because of ATM failure. I had a frustrating experience regarding ATMs back when I was in college. The line to the machine was long and there were several people ahead of me. I can't remember how long I waited but I can swear that it was a very long time. When it was my turn, talk about bad luck, the machine accepted the transaction and even gave me a receipt but the money did not come out. After that, the machine went off line. But it was a good thing that the bank was still open that time so I immediately went to the counter and complained about what happened. They made me filled up some forms and told me to go back the next day so I can get my money. I got my money indeed but I did not like the experience. Even if the amount was not big, it was only P300.00 as far as I can remember (it was already big that time in that place, it was already by allowance for the week), still, I don't like losing money because the machine failed. If it was my fault, I'd accept it but if it wasn't... It's a good thing there were many people then, I would have kicked the machine on it's butt if it had one.

@ "I would have kicked the machine on it's butt" that's right, if it was our fault, then at least we have nothing to blame for the time that we have lost in going through the bank to complain, fill the forms, and then wait another some days again to get our money. the thing about atm problems is really the time that we will spend in going to the bank to process. we could have done some other things, more important than an hour or two at the bank, you know, the long queue and some complicated things. i just hate to fall in line that long, and when it's your turn, the machine will go offline and worst, our money get debited. thanks for sharing.

yeah, i know how much you lost from the thieves. passbook account is safer if the bank will be strict with the withdrawals. the bank where i go to deposit the funds of the office, almost everyday has a very strict system with their transactions, especially withdrawals. they will ask the account holder or who ever the person who wishes to withdraw, for a set of identifications. usually, two id cards are requested to verify the account. zayzay is doing good, though there are nights, still, that we cannot sleep very well because of his snoring. sometimes he really goes to loud. there is still the apnea as we see it. but good thing with him, we don't have problems with him in taking his medicines. the syrup. and the tablet. and after swallowing the tablet, he will shout, "DARNA!"
