me and my wife are talking about songs, well we always do that. having a great conversation about the todays music and the past music. music that we like that when it was remaked some turned out cool and some turned out not so cool. then we talked about songs that has good lyrics but we dont like the one who sang it. she gave example of the climb by miley, she likes the lyrics of the song for it has a lot of meaning but she does not like miley ( sorry miley fans). she like also love bug but does not like jonas brothers (sorry for the jonas fans). did you ever ran across a song that you like the words but dont like the one who sang it?

That is why video killed the radio star :) I think if you look back at old fashioned songs, often the singers are not very stylish but their singing is good. I would rather hear a good song by an ordinary person than a terrible song by a good looking person. We have a singer in the UK who has a lovely voice (Susan Boyle) if you look for her on youtube you will see that she is not an enormously beautiful lady, quite mumsy and dowdy looking really but her voice is beautiful. She was on a television competition and everyone laughed at her before she started to sing but was shocked into awed silence when she performed.

yes i know who is susan boyle. the whole world knows her. i agree with you that i would rather listen to singers who are simple and can really sing good specially when it is live than singers who are just popular for certain reasons. ms. boyle's voice has captivates the worlds heart. you can relax and listen to her all day long. thanks a lot for the response

There are many remakes or should I say revivals that I really didn't like the singer, because of the way he or she or they made it sound. Our country is known for many gifted singers, but sometimes it's really annoying to hear some of them remake a beautiful classic. there are also song lyrics I like but hate the way it was sang. I usually stick to the genre I like or just hate another genre regardless of their music. It's more of the style they try to introduce, outfits and everything.

i agree with you. lie for example i dont wanna miss a thing by regine velasquez. i dont have anything against regine though me and my wife are both not fans of her, but singing a song popularized by AEROSMITH is not a god thing for us. this is only our opinion but i guess for me she should have left that alone. i know there are a lot of people who loved that song that regine sang but not my type. thanks a lot for the response

OMG I was thinking of the same example too, The Climb by Miley Cyrus! I don't NOT like her, but I wasn't a fan of her songs either. But when I heard The Climb, I totally loved it!

my niece was asking a sugestion from us on what to suggest at school for a graduation song. my wife said THE CLIMB of Miley though we really dont like miley at all. my wife explained that once they graduated they will be climbing another year, another experience and another page in thier lives. life is about climbing, keep on trying and putting your head up high. it is indeed a good song, i wish kelly clarkson sang it har har har. thanks a lot for the response

I totally didn't think it was Miley who sang it until I saw the MTV. But she did really well, perhaps she deserves another look from us :)

Hi 7th, Yes i do. this usually happens with revival songs. i feel bad listening to my favorite song but was not given justice by the one who revived it. althhough there are also some that i appreciate but most of the times i still go for the original ones.

actually my friend that is all this discussion started, me and my wife was really talking about the new version of we are the world. justine beaver as the one who sings the first part.... yaiks. if they think that it is cool well i guess they can do better than that. there are more great singer than this bunch of unexperienced kids.

i agree. that is why sometimes specially at the US people get really angry when a singer does not give any justice to the song they have to remake. my wife was giving an example of a remake song that turned very good.... i will always love you by whitney houston. the original was sang by dolly parton and whitney gave justice to the song. well that is my wife's opinion. thanks a lot for the response

Sorry for all the Sasha Fierce fans, but Beyonce ruined Etta James's song "At last" I have never liked Beyonce, but it was because of her self-centered attitude and superiority complex she seems to have; I never questioned her singing talent. But when she sang this song, she was very lazy about it. She didn't put any of her life into it, almost like she was forced to do it. Even Etta James was angry at the way she presented her song. So this is a song that was ruined for me.

I don't even think this is a matter of her being a young singer. Even though I don't like Beyonce, I acknowledge that she is very talented. I have heard her bring it way better on a number of songs than she did this. She didn't put anything into it on purpose I feel, which is a disrespect to Etta.

i agree with you drkn, that sometimes this new generation singers does not put their heart and soul in a song that makes the original singers angry. i agree with you that beyonce after naming herself fierce does not show any fierce on that song. she did not give any justice to the song. thanks a lot for the response

I think that usually the songs I don't like who sung it is usually the remade songs. I might like the original better, or I might like the remake better, but usually it's songs that have been remade that I don't like the artist. Other times it's the music in the backdrop that I am not a fan of, and not so much the lyrics or the singer!

there are singers who are really good on remaking songs.... one is david cook. he adds spice and he leveled up the song he wanted to remake. if all remaker singers will be as talented as david cook then it would be pleasing to hear the song. thanks a lot for the response

So far i haven't come across this, most of the song with lyrics that i like are sing by man or woman with great vocal chord and voice with great background support band. I am talking about the singer voice alone here but not individual life style or personality, i just don't pay much attention to the personal details of some of these singers whether they have any rotten life style or silly personal history or not.

i to does not pay attention with what life they are in.... that is to personal already and i am not a paparrazi har har har. i hope i spelled that one right. i go for the songs and words. some singer do a terrific job on giving songs and performing it very well. thanks a lot for the response par.

Yes I think i remember some of that incident. My partner and I also discuss such things because he said that some songs are nice but it seems worst because of the singer. I also heard some songs from the artist but I didnt like the person who sings it.

yes, happened all the time, lol! for expample, when i was driving the car and i was listening the radio, i listened a song who i really liked it, and in this moment, i dint know who sang it, and then when i arrived at home, and found a little phrase i listened, i discovered who was by jonas brothers, (sorry jonas brothers fans) and i cant believe it they were sang this song! other experience i have had, was with evanescence, when i was more younger, like 15, a friend listened everyday evanescense, and i didnt like at this moment because i didnt like the style of her, and then, with the pass of the time, i listened on the radio a song in english who i really like the letter and6 the style, and when i searched on internet who sing it, i discovered that the singer is evanescence, and then i started to listened all her songs and i really like nowdays.. i wrote 2 experiences that showing that perhaps at this moment, u dont like it, and then, like me, listened a song and u "fall" in love with this, and when u discovered who sang it, u started to like the songs of the singer or the songs by a band... i wish u have a wonderful day and happy mylotting!

i guess as we mature the things we like changes too.... or we are more open minded on music so we learn to like the music we dont like before. i dont like the jonas too, i even call them jonasses (a&ses har har har). i can say that there are songs that are good and words are cool but then when you search for the song and knew who sang it, the feeling changes already. thanks a lot for the response

O yes. There were many songs which I liked but didn't like the singer's voice much.It was when other singers sing this that I understand the beauty of those songs.I guess it's because I like certain people to sing only certain kinds of songs.

that is true to that there are songs that we dont like but when we hear other singers gave their own rendition the songs had a little make over and it was leveled up on something that we apprciate more. i guess david cook has a good talent on that field. thanks a lot for the response

I hate the Jonas brothers and Miley Cyrus. Purity rings ?0_o Really? I think all of their songs would've been better if Matthew Tuck sang them. He could add a bit of scream to "THE CLIMB". "IT'S THE CLIMB!!! RAWRRR~#~#~#"

this happens to me all the time with remakes. Faith Hill butched Janis' a Piece Of my Heart. But I never had it happen with the original. If I don't like the singer when he/she is singing a orginial song , then I won't like the song.

oh yeah, this happens to me a lot. I hear a song, like it instantly, and then when I find out I don't like the singer, I like it less. There are also a lot of songs that I like which are sung by artists I don't really care about. I just like the song itself, and not who sang it or wrote it.

When it comes to song I love music the combination of lyrics and melody. I don't care about who sung it or the artist for as long as the lyrics and the melody deliver a good though for everybody. I know that some artist knows the best music and when they sing a song mostly it came from their heart. Feel the music when they sing and trying to relay their messages through their songs. Thanks and have a nice day!

Lady Gaga. I really like her voice and her songs, but I can't accept her style in dressing up. Maybe someone thinks it's cool, but it's too fashionable for me.
