Good habits for losing weight

February 22, 2010 6:49am CST
So, I'm losing weight again. I lost loads before and what with one thing and another it has crept back on. I got to thinking how I used to have loads of good habits before, so I want to get some back again. To keep it interesting I'm going to introduce a new one each week, so that hopefully in a couple of months time I've got back loads of good habits - amd maybe learned some new ones from you guys. My first one is: I'm not going to eat in the car. It's where I often end up snacking on sweets or crisps. So, what suggestions can you guys offer?

The best way that worked for me was lessening the carbohydrates. Cut your rice intake to half. Surely, you'll lose weight :) Also do some exercise -- cardio :) I've lost more than 5 lbs because of these. And now I'm under weight by just 1 lb. Lol. But I'm maintaining this weight anyway :)

That's true - I guess what I was looking for here more than what foods to eat/not eat, and what exercise to do was more about nice little tips that make life easier. Another thing I've come accross is taking up quilting - I've wanted to do ti for ages, and the positive side effect for me has been that I don't eat of an evening now as my hands are busy and I get that engrossed in my sewing that even if I do get a bit peckish, I'm to lost in it to stop and get food!

haha! Yes that's true. Keep your hands busy :) Or for this matter, maybe we can keep our mouth busy, too? Anyway, good for you :) Keep up the good job in avoiding food. Have fun with quilting :)

Have nuts, vegetables like carrots and cucumbers and fresh fruits for your snacks. Even if you eat in the car, if those food are the only available in your car, then there's no harm.

OK.My suggestion is that you quit eating after dinner and swallow nothing after 9:00 at night because calorie remains in your body when you sleep and turns into fat later. And my another advice is that stop eating fried food which is really oily and rich in fat. Positive emotions everyday!

Good suggestions - I try not to eat late at night anyway as I find that it keeps me awake, but that gives me another reason to do it. And I agree about the fried food too. Last time I lost weight I stop eating fried foods altogether, and when I first ate some afterwards I found I got a really upset stomach.... but now I seem to have got resistance back again, so time to ditch the frying pan!

Hi there i_am_moosie... Well, honestly speaking, I don't want to lose weight (at the moment) rather I want to gain some weight... xD But, in this case, I would share to you the best way I know to lose weight and maintain it forever... The word is just "EXERCISE"... You can jog around your place, take some stretching, do some push-ups, and a lot more... If you don't want to do static exercises, you could go WALK, RUN, BIKE, SWIM or JOG...

Counldn't agree more! I have a fractured wrist at the moment from playing netball, so cycling is off the menu, but have been taking some long walks on the moor where I live and that has the double benefit of getting me out in the fresh air and taking in the views. But perhaps I should add in some static exercises too - stretching and sit ups I can do while watching TV and not even notice that I'm doing more exercise!

I don't know why people want to loss their weight. To me if i want to increase my weight i am not able to do so. I try to eat lot but every time i fail to increase my weight. I think through my experience, you should not eat less. Some time this all will let you fall sick. But if you rally want to loss your weight try to eat fresh vegetables. Having snacks in car, will not make any different in your weight. All you have to do is, go for walk every evening, take less dinner and then go to bed. This will work to decrease your weight.
