There are a lot of great new technology used today, but there are also some that I find really annoying like those electronic answering systems that business's use to answer there phones. the reason I find the technology annoying is for the most obvious reasons, when I call a business such as a cable company or phone services provider I prefer to speak with a real live person not a machine that can barely understand what I'm saying, and most of the time the electronic answering options dont have what I need the program dose things like I'm sorry I didnt get that. or please press this number or that number, its just sooo annoying. I have several that I find incredibly annoying. Of course, the electronic answering systems are just maddening. I just always seem to choose the wrong option and have to call back in order to get to the right menu option. It takes forever! Next on my pet peeves list as far as technology is the televisions and such for the kids in the back of the vehicle. I may be dating myself, but when we were kids, we created ways to be entertained. Trip time is family time, that is a good chance for the parents to have a good interaction with the children, find out what they are doing and engage in some quality family discussion. My next technological pet peeve is the ipod or any personal portable device used to listen to media that causes the wearer/user to cut themselves off from the general public they happen to be around. These devices cause people to be less sociable and have undeveloped social skills. Some studies have concluded that the bombardment of continuous media, most especially on children is related to ADD. It is not good psychologically for people to be constantly entertained through these technological advancements. People need to interact with each other in order to develop the skills necessary to advance their well-being and the well-being of those around them. Plus, psychologically and even physically, boredom is good. A friend of mine told me about this trip a psychiatrist had an overworked hyperactive guy take for 2 weeks. The psychiatrist planned the trip and arranged everything. When the man arrived at his destination he found only a hotel without a tv or radio, no phone in the room and basically just a sleepy little town that had no entertainment. He had to learn to enjoy the wonders around him in nature, stargaze, notice some flower he never saw before, and basically just slow down and be a part of his environment. He came back from the trip in better health than he had in many, many years. Happy Mylotting!

i dunno. i am not in agreement with you about the ipod. i love and need my music. so, does my little girl. in fact music has brought us closer. we have a split head phone jack where we both can listen at the same time. in fact, me my only best friend in the world do the same thing. it brings us closer because we are sharing something we both love in common. as far as anybody new besides my friends and family. i don't care about being social. that's what people online are for. lol. i don't like ppl general people offline, and don't want to be forced to interact. it would increase my clinical depression.

the technology that i find annoying now is the old technology. You can imagine using latest mobile phone comparing to old mobile phone with big handle, long antenna and if you throw it to a dog, it will most probably die of it. LOL anyhow, i like the technology nowadays. Everything seems to be so efficient and easy... yet it makes us more lazy to do things.

I actually find the telephone the most annoying piece of technology, because to me I find it highly intrusive, you are in the comfort of your own home and sometimes when salespeople or strangers ring they are invading your home space, it's like interupting your privacy. If I had my way I wouldn't have a phone, but because I have broadband I have to have a phone connection. Plus I don't like talking on the phone anyhow which is another pet peeve for me, I rather talk to people in person, not through a piece of plastic and wire. When I am eating and the phone rings that is so damn annoying and equally frustrating.

Cellphones. I hate them, though convenient as they are. I wish you had to be 18+ to own a cell phone. Seriously. Why would an 8 year old need a cellphone? Obviously to call his friends which he sees everyday in school! Yeah. Because it's better than using a house phone. *Rolls eyes* I preferred days when few people had cellphones.. But now it's like an epidemic or something. I admit, I own a cell phone. But, it's prepaid and it's because I don't have access to long distance, and my family lives in another state. Kids.. children.. don't usually have this issue. They just have them because they are 'cool' or 'in', and it's a waste of money. It's their choice, the parents, but still. Thats my mini rant, and I'll end it here.

I dislike slot machines when you put the money in to pay for something and it keeps spilling it out even though there is nothing wrong with it. It can be so frustrating if you only have the correct money on you and the machine wont accept it. Now we have automatic cashier machines in some of the big shops and they are just the same. You weigh and scan your own goods and the machines tells you the total ,then you feed in your money and it keeps pushing it back until you have to go and call a shop assistant to help, totally defeating the point of the automatic machine.

the thing i find most annoying are cell phones. don't get me wrong it's also a life saver because my son is not yet 12 even though he thinks he is 16. he is in martial arts training after school and i have a temporary job to make some extra money. so, now he has to walk home by himself (don't worry only 10 minutes away from home). but still, it is long enough for me to worry. if not for the cell phone i think i would just freak out or not do the gigg. the thing i hate about cell phones are that it seems like the world has 24 access to you. the first thing people ask is, "where are you". geez this pees me off. i'm like, " somewhere i don't want you to know about". or it's a cell so you should be on call 24/7 for the whole world. this is why i am selective of who i give my number to.

hi apples99 oh yes I get so exasperated at times. you are talking to a program and you cannot make it understand that none of the options are what you need. You want to scream and the thing is going I do not understand please repeat. once I was to give the user number of my insurance, and I would go slow with the large long number and the voice would go blah blah that is not a valid number so I would try to speed it up hoping then it would go through then I wou ld get the same canned speech, please give your user number so I would go 234 3424212 and again I would get that is not a valid number, but finally this time I got I will connect you with a clerk,.when I really got hooked up with a live person I was about ready to cry. she asked me how she could help and I told her that I could not get my user number in so she asked me to give it to her,and then she asked what my problem was and we had it all taken care of in ten minutes after I had spent an hour fussing with that weird canned voice., ugh ugh ugh.She was so kind and I was just about ready to break down and bawl. But she got me connected to the ambulance service that was trying to charge me for the payment that my insurance had already paid. it was just a case of them passing each other up in the mail. they did have the payment so I was told to tear u p the bill and relax as it was already paid. whew,.

Same here. I find answering machines so annoying, especially when you're calling in for a very important matter, and then there's this lady speaking on the other line, only to find out that you're actually talking to a machine! haha!
