I'm getting married probably later this year or early next year and until now i can't decide on what would be my wedding color motif. Well i guess everybody wants their wedding to be special and i am not an exemption. We are applying minimalist objective and we want to have this simple elegant concept for the wedding. I like black but it seems to smug or sad for a wedding celebration. I'm thinking of silver-gray too yet I'm having a second thought. I want at least a unique color combination that would suit the mood of celebration yet would not be too loud. Any suggestions you could make my friends?

Congratulations on your coming nuptials. I love weddings! I'm sure that your wedding will be special no matter what you choose. In my opinion, black can be a really good base color at wedding. Then you can use a bright color like pink, yellow or turquoise as an accent color to really make it pop. Black and red is also a nice color combination if you want a dramatic effect. However if you do want softer colors, silver with complementary colors can be nice too. I would say with the silver, you should stick to pastels like a coral pink, lilac/lavendar or mint green. My suggestion would be to choose your favorite colors or color scheme and be confident with your choice. If that doesn't help, think of what statement you want to make at your wedding: bright and fun with bold, light colors that have a lot of contrast, dramatic with vibrant colors that draw your eyes to certain focal points or simply classic with subtle colors that blend together. Again, congratulations.

I agree, black would be such an elegant choice and you can choose a bright color to liven things up. I don't think it is too smug or sad. Are you from the Philippines? Did you see the wedding of Kamikazee's front man? They did really well with their black motif. Otherwise choose depending on your favorite color or what loooks good on you. :) Congratulations in advance!

i really like your comment, it makes me feel good about choosing black, we've been debating over black and white color scheme or brown and pink. i think both schemes will be a great combination. i also browse the net with that color motif samples and both stands out.

i think this would depend upon your favorite color. i always dream of having an all pink motif, but when i got married, it did not happen. we decided to have a very simple wedding with no one but our very close relatives. just talk it over with your partner, you can decide about it. and wedding organizers could also help you.

Hello djmarion, Wow that's a good news, best wishes to you!I am always inspired hearing from people they are getting married because marriage is an exciting chapter of our existence, it always pumped different sensation and spark. Me too, is endlessly dreaming that one day I can walk-down-the aisle with the man I truly loved. Well, as of motif, I think it's a personal choice and it acts as a symbol of your wedding day, it has lots of meaning attach and it will also become a dominating shade in your special day. Like for instance this one---hmmmm, if I get married, though I adored PINK, for sure it will not be my motif because it doesn't punch too much sentiments, so I would choose POMEGRANATE (a bright red/reddish orange) color, because it symbolizes prosperity, abundance, fertility, love and fidelity. Back in ancient times, couples put pomegranate fruits at the foot of their bed during honeymoon to ensure child bearing. Pomegranate sometimes called a sacred fruit and it is originally cultivated and grown in the Himalayas region of Asia and ancient Persia now Iran, it symbolizes strength and wisdom--legend claimed it is the pattern of King Solomon's crown, this fruit mentioned several times in the Holy Bible. So why not go with this colorful, bright and happy color. Good luck and best wishes may you live happily ever after. Cheers!

Congratulations... i love weddings... and i love it more when the event is very creative... there are so many colors to choose from... but it is always nice to deviate from the common ones... Like you can still try black... only the bride would wear white and the rest would wear black with a thinge of white... the rest can wear white with a thinge of black... our culture dictates that black is not a good color when it comes to events like this... but i think we need to use our creativity and imagination if we want great memories for this special day...

I want to have a black and white with a touch of red wedding, it's not to sad, cause I would put touches of red on everything so it's not to loud, but just enough color. I was also thinking about using chocolate brown and cream. I have seen a wedding once with this motif, and it looks really nice. Or you can add bronze so it's a little shiny. Congrats on your wedding, and I hope you can find your perfect colors soon.

Hello friend. Congrats! Our clients here usually have lavender or light pink color motiffs. It blends with gold dust and with other glitters to. We also had one with a turquoise color if you want a bit dark. If black that would be new to me because we never had that here with our clients. We have a video business by the way. ^^

Congratulations djmarion! Weddings are very important for us as women, so you better do it with colors you like and not what people taste dictates. I got married last july. My colors where white, black and a little, but very little pink in somethings! My mother said that black is sad, and other friends told me, did you commited sin or why black? LOL, but in the wedding everyone said it was so elegant and I think it really was! That silverish gray you say also soulds pretty, or a chrome color with with makes a very minimalist look. Look up for wedding images and color themes, so you can have an idea, and the decide. I hope your wedding looks lovely, Libna.

My partner and I are getting married on the 1st May and we are going with a black and purple theme. My dress is black and purple with a black and purple head dress and my partner is wearing a purple velvet jacket with black trousers and shirt. We have black and purple balloons, wedding favours and decorations and we feel it looks great. A friend of mine married last year in black and white, it looked stunning and very modern. She wore a lovely dress in black with white trimming and a white lace overlay and the reception was all in a black and white theme. Whatever you chose, remember it is your day and you should have what you want. Congratulations

I think white is a very nice color. It is pure and bliss, so if you ask me, I'd say white. But it totally depends on what you want. If you want to mix it up a little, consult anyone that is of a color expert and mix the white with something pastel too. I think the idea of a wedding is to have soft, nice colors that blend with everything.

If i can suggest you black is not good for a wedding, but i think it's better bright colour, like pink or red, or white, maybe you can combine the silver with white or pink? if you feel that it is to common, maybe light yellow or blue sky colour can be another alternatif I hope you have a nice wedding

Wedding hall - A pleasant sight if properly organised
I am a wedding planner within my family. The first one was a combination of maroon and gold with a dash of silver/white to mellow down the combination. It was a big responsibility as I had to go from pillar to post to pick flowers, baloons, dresses for brides maids, dress for the bride of course which was goldish with a bouquet of red roses. I also had to take care of church, car, hall decorations to blend with this colour combination. It became a fairy land at the end of it. Make me a wedding planner of your wedding and the fees aare well, well, well........

Congratulations for your coming wedding my dear. With regards to your suggestion, I think the color gold will actually lighten up the whole wedding atmosphere. It's a little different, you know, if you use this color. Though, this may sound common to you but this is will be a better choice. Imagine how the setting of your wedding day celebration. Seeing gold everywhere has a psychological effect to you as it represents the color of magic and wealth. This will truly enlighten your day and makes your mood turned on and on until midnight.
