I have a beloved little plump cat named Delilah. She's all black with some orange swirled in so she's my midnight girl! She is very sweet and so easy going. Well this morning, I woke to her staring me awake!
Ah..the food bowl must not have the full pieces of crunchies in adequate quantities. She doesn't like to eat the cruchies that are broken, only full pieces will do!
So as I am blinking awake and deciding whether I should get my extra 45 minutes of sleep before the alarm goes off, I look at her and realize that her short pure black whiskers are coming in white now, BUT only on 1 side!!
I recently changed their cat food to try and help her get better nutrition and shed less. Did that abit over a month ago since I made the change gradually. She loves the new food and it really has made a HUGE difference in the shedding! She's one of those cats that has a super thick coat almost like a double coat.
She now looks abit comical with all short Black whiskers on 1 side and the other side is now almost all White! All the new growth whiskers are coming in longer and fuller, She's shedding alot less and really seems to enjoy the new food which is great but one side is Black and the other is White!!

That is really weird. I have not heard of a cat having one side of whiskers black and the other white.
The fur colouring of your cat sounds like she is a dark tortie breed. I have a long haired dark tortie.
How old is your cat? Could it just be an age thing? Or a genetic colouring feature?

I've had all black cats over the years grow one white one - and Sassy, who is around 18 or 19 now has almost all white whiskers on her cheeks (but not her eyebrows) and she is all black.
Don't know why your tortie is growing white whiskers on one side but it may have nothing to do with diet, and when they fall out they may come back black again

It is kind of like my Willy. He is a color point American short hair, with red points. His nose is pink with black spots (last count was 7). He recently has been getting "smudges" in among his points. He has black appearing on his face and his feet. I keep wanting to give him a bath
, but it wouldn't do any good. His brother, Khuay, hasn't gotten the black smudges. I wonder if your cat and mine are sneaking out while we're sleeping and going to the kitty beauty parlor and getting dye jobs?

That's funny. I guess like human eyes cats can do that with their wiskers. I think I had a black cat that that happened too once, but at first I thought it was a trick of the light. too bad your cat was soo damanding and decided to drag you out of bed.
