Redesign the hot dog...seriously?!

OK please tell me I am not the only one who thought this latest story was just beyond absurd! Pediatricians and other nameless loons think that the hot dog should be redesigned as it's the 'perfect' airway obstructor for small children. Are you kidding me? First of all...if you 'redesign' a hot dog...it won't be a hot dog! Secondly, if lazy parents would take the time to cut up their children's food into bite size pieces, there is a far lower likelihood that their child will choke. Better yet, wait until they have enough teeth to actually chew it up well enough. Are we eschewing personal responsibility to the point that we have health organizations making stupid recommendations like this? I believe they mention pizza well.

My dad told me about this, this morning when I woke up! I couldnt believe my ears. I swear people have nothing better to do then tell us how to raise our children. I think if you dont have the common sense to raise your child maybe you shouldnt have them! My children we're eating hot dogs just shy of 2 years old and they loved them and still do to this day. How hard is it to cut up your childs food? I completely agree with you on this one. Some people, they just make you wonder what this world is really coming to!

That is true the world be lonely. I only say that is because I wouldnt have all the stupid people to laugh at! 
Common sense is pretty common. For the smart people that is. For the most part almost everything is self explanitory. You dont give a whole hotdog to a 1 year old!

I totally agree with you, magrylouyu! People should have enough common sense to raise their children. Those who can't even think of cutting up their children's hotdogs or are to lazy to do so shouldn't be parents at all. I'm not from the same country, but I can relate to you.

I think this is totally ridiculous. We should be able to think on out own. How did our parents ever make it through. Do we need the governments nose in everything to tell us what is safe and what isn't. Why can't people be expected to use commonsense? A hot dog is a hot dog, leave it alone.

And what will it look like if it will be redesigned? Do they have suggestions? I already saw hot dogs in smaller sizes if that's what they want to make of it. here in our place they call it hot dog balls..
