hey all. long time back , i read an article about the consequenses of taking outdated tablets . couldn't believe that little ignorance can take our life. that girl's face without the skin still haunts me. her skin was coming out from all over the body..now whenever i buy medicines, or any product for that matter, i make sure i check the expiry date. what about you?

Hello Ksmita! Not sure what you're talking about a girl's face without skin because of some outdated medication? She must have had an allergic reaction to the medication. I do have some outdated prescription. Asked my doctor about it once and he said they were still good. I dont really take much meds so I dont worry about it that much. I just ask the pharmacist first if they're still good or not.

Asking the pharmacist is probably the best thing to do if you have any out of date medicines. I'm the same as you, I don't take anything but the odd paracetamol now and then.
If we were talking years and years out of date than I wouldn't even entertain using it.

oh.. I haven't encounter expiry dates with medicine before. Lucky for me.
It is usually food and other products that i tend to notice... Like milk and lotion for contact lens... Usually I would try to finish my stuff before I meet the expiry date.

xpirydates. I used to think that meds beyond their validity period, beome ineffective. But they "transform" into something as dangerous as what you have described is scary. BTB it should be in the ethics of shopkeepers to remove them out of circulation!? This is very well done in the west. But of course we as a nation are wantuing in such simple ethics! If our sellers palm off anthing they will. IT is only the money that matters.

It was only the other day that i sorted out all the pills and other types of medication that were in the cupboard and it was surprising to see how many were out of date as well as what pills were still in there.I think that alot of people out there do not read the expiry date on alot of things,my mum had a heart spray that went under her tongue and that was out of date the ambulance man told her and he did say that is why it did not work as it was a year out of date.

hello ksmita,
As far as i know, expiry dates with medicines is not the actual expiration.
It still has 3 months or more from the expiry date indicated on the box(medicines)
But still it is better to be careful when it comes to taking medication by self alone.
Maybe the case of the girl you are referring to is not all becoz of the expiration date,i guess there could be more deeper reason for it.

Personally i make it a point to check the expiry date of the medicines i'm buying and of the medicines we have at home in our medicine box. I don't want to put my family into a risky situation.
