Has anyone traced their ancestrial history? If you did how far back did you go? I traced mine from our local library back to the 1770's. I would like to see if I could go back any further. In order for me to do this I would need to travel to other regions of the world. One of these days I would like to.

I have not done it myself, but my aunt (my dad's sister) has traced our family back to the 1400's and she did it all over a five year period on Genes Reunited. It really is fascinating stuff, but our family ancestors are all from the UK so no travelling was required of my aunt.

Wow that is amazing. Did your family keep good records for you to do this?

That would surely be an adventure! I have not traced my history, I have done a project on scottish history, which is what my father said my maiden name was. This was back when I was in school. I haven't traced my married name, but I love to find out about things like that. I remember seeing a bit of a report on my grandfather's mother's side of the family... how it traced back, and it's interesting to see.

Hi, Lowloy! Frankly, I wouldn't know where to begin, since I have no family that I know of to ask where to start. It's a fascinating concept, though!

Hello Lowloy! My cousin did on my maternal side. He had to go to Europe to get all the information. I tried to get some information on my paternal side but we'd need to travel to Italy to find out. Even though my dad and his brothers and sisters are still alive, they never asked any information pertaining to their parents siblings or family?!?!? Strange isnt it? Now, for some reason, Im not so sure Id like to find out about my paternal link. Good luck with your research and yes you'll need to travel to find out more. Unfortunately, not everything is made available on the net yet.

I traced mine back on one of those coat of arms websites where you can then purchase products with your family symbols on them, but I didn't like my family crest, so I sort of lost interest. Good luck in your quest, I hope you gte a chance to travel and find out how far back you can trace.
