Have you heard the local news about the so - called "bad behavior" of those giant banks, they are there to rip you off instead of helping you as their loyal customers. The story is that those banks tell you that you actually have more money in your account than you think you are, and after you spend those money, they charge you overdraft fee. They simply like to take advantage of their customers like that, can you believe it? No wonder many people are fed up with those bad behavior, and they switch to smaller community banks, or credit union. Unless, they are never be treated this way.

I have been with my bank for almost 35 years and I have noticed that in recnt times they seem to charge me a lot more than before. The interest rates, the bank charges, the penalties, everything feels like I am being ripped off.

yeah, that is why. They don't deserve your loyalty. They still try to rip you off, or taking advantage of you. That is what I am feeling right now. We shouldn't let them do that to us. If they don't deserve our business, we should switch to other banks.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I know that my husband and I have been banking at the same bank for years and lately we have problems with them. I know that one month we had been slightly overdrawn. This was the first time in all eight years that we have been banking them that this happened. We had asked if they would waiver this fee because it is the first time we have done that. The bank would not waiver this fee. I think it is sad that banks can get away with things like this. My husband and I have been looking into changing manks.

smart move, the competition is always out there, and you always have option to choose a better one for yourself. Don't fed up with those banks anymore, you can do better than let them took advantage of you.

Personally anymore, nothing would surprise me. It is truly a shame the way Banks are doing their business anymore, and it does discust me. With jobs being so scarce in a lot of areas, and people loosing homes still, etc. it just makes you wonder. When they bailed out the Banks everyone cheered, but they continue to use it against us by raising the Fees, interest rates, etc. and trying to look like they are really also doing us a favor. Makes me wonder and hope somehow something can be done about it in time to stop this.

I understand what you say. Well, you don't have to fed up with those giant mega banks anymore. You always have option of switch to smaller community banks, where they honor their customers, giving better service to get their customers' businesses.

Why would a bank do that? Aren't they audited on a regular basis? How could they expect to keep customers?

Hello Kingparker,
I do agree with everythig you say here. The big banks for get that it was cutomers that got them this big. Smaller banks know if they fo not treat the customers right word of mouth spreads and they go under.
Thanks and Have a great afternoon!

The big banks are really behaving badly. Their fees alone are a big problem in this world that we live in. They love to collect from people who owe money especially. That's how they make most of their money. INTEREST. I sometimes feel that what they are doing to people is illegal.

The thing described here isa world wide phenomenon..
for me its like first the banks comes to us and when we are a customer of the bank
it backs off on all the liabilities it has..
We cant get them to help us in times when we need them
they always have official explanation for it, but we know that they are not going to profit from it thats the main reason why they cant help us out...
they treat us wrongly and expect us to return as we need them...

Hi Kingparker,
I haven't heard that one but I'm not a bit surprised. Locally we have a bank that will deliberatly put thru a larger check or atm withdrawal in order to send the account into overdraft and then put the smaller ones through and charge a fee on each one regardless of the order in which they came in. I've been lucky in that my bank has not played any of these underhanded games. If they did, I'd be looking for another bank really quick!

I haven't heard that...or experienced it. I use a major bank...I have four regularly used checking accounts (personal and business)...with online access and have never noticed a discrepancy between what the bank said I had in an accoun and what was actually in there. In fact, due to the accuracy and speed of online transactions, I've been able to move funds from one account to another when necessary in order to avoid overdraft fees.

I switched to a local bank for similar reasons. The National bank we where with charged us fees for several idiotic uncontrollable things such as checks coming in out of order (like I can control how quickly people cash a check), fees is we cashed too many checks at one time (more then 3 in a trans action having a small business I sometimes have several checks at a time) and that was a whammy $30 a check! Oh and my favorite one they charged our savings account a $30 fee if we deposited more then 5 times in a month. I still have issues with some of the fees our local bank has but they aren't as big of a deal as with that major bank.
