I am upset with the makers of the fruit cocktail I am eating

I was at the store with a desire for cottage cheese and fruit, so I found some unsweetened fruit cocktail in a can to have with the cottage cheese. I thought, o, this is great. Naturally sweetened. Though it did not say naturally sweetened, I thought it was because I guess I wanted it to be. It has a bit of a bite, but I really didn't pay much attention to why. Until just a few moments ago when I was scooping some out of the can. It said SPLENDA right on the can in small letters to the side. Now how did I miss that? Well, probably because when I first read the label and it said it was unsweetened, I expected there would be no sweetener in it. So how did splenda get in there? Peaches and pears that comprise a majority of the ingredients are very sweet. So why do they need an artificial sweetener? In America we are salt and sugared up pretty well in anything that we do not prepare for ourselves from scratch. Often drinks and sweetened things have these other sweeteners in them that are not sugar. I question the safety of this stuff, and I don't like it being snuck into my food. How do you feel about this? Do you mind the artificial and/or non-sugar stuff in your food?

Well I dont like to feel as though I've been tricked or mislead into anything especially when eating or buying food items, I think that the food company's and manufacturer's should make the contents clear, and make sure that the consumers can see and understand fully whats in there food. they should not put unclear or misleading info on the product labels, saying the product is unsweetened if in fact it is sweetened with a artificial sweetener because if the label says unsweetened then the consumer naturally assumes that the food product is plan and completely unsweetened. With that said, I'm aware that some artificial sweeteners have had some studies that show that they maybe unsafe, but I think if they are eaten and used in moderation they are safe to eat. I like sugarless gum, but I dont like those beverage's that are sweetened with artificial sweeteners because they tend to taste a bit off or weak food and beverage makers who use artificial sugar in there products claim that you cant taste the difference but I can. to me certain foods taste best with real sugar its unfortunate for those who cant eat real sugar or those who maybe trying to improve there diet.

I am embarrassed because I just read the can again. It said no sugar added instead of unsweetened. Even so, the splenda label is much smaller and at the bottom of the can to the side. Even so, no sugar added can mean there is no sweetener added, and that is what I took it to mean. Ugh! They are making grocery shopping an Olympic mental feat because you have to read carefully every label.

Yes shopping dose seem a bit like a sport or a spelling bee because of all those long words written so small and they put tiny logos and symbols on those label's in areas where they can barely be seen I was shopping the other day, and I sometimes missed an ingredient or two, as well I think we all do.

Doesn't it seem like that (a sport or something). I get tired of not being able to just run in and get something. Fumbling with trying to retrieve the reading glasses from my purse, forgetting that I am wearing them on my head, forgetting I put them away and looking on my head for them whilst people chuckle. All to try to avoid as much artificial stuff as humanly possible. Yet, it is not humanly possible. May I throw a tantrum? Well, it is MY thread I started............. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! stomps feet and screams. There now, I feel better. Until I have to go shopping again and carve out at least 2 hours of my time just to read labels, get discouraged and feel like throwing a fit right there in the store in front of God and everybody. I will refrain and use my tantrums for Mylot. :D
