Bored at Work

What do you do when you're bored at work - when you run out of things to do? Do you look for more things to do? Do you talk with coworkers? Do you ask to go home early? I can't stand sitting around without anything to do at work unless I'm on a break. Sometimes when things are slow, I'll take a break and hope more work will appear on my desk by the time I get back. How do you handle boredom or insufficient work at your job?

hi JJ4Ever, Oh I'm like that too! I can't manage to sit around and do nothing at work. I must always need to do something. I mean whatever it is, give it to me! But in my case, I only have time for other things during break time. My whole time is always occupied with my work. I wish I could have lots of time to think about other stuff when I'm at the office. Haha! I'm always busy and running out of time at work which is freaking crazy. When I have my break-time, of course I eat. And I visit mylot on my phone or just play music while doing other task at work.

Hi DK, thanks again for your response, and I apologize for giving you BR without a comment! I'm glad you're the same way as me, always going, going, going! I'm sure you can relate to my not being able to sit still. I'm still that way even though I've been in my new job for almost a year (next month). I still have to stay occupied and getting things done no matter what. I feel so bad for my hubby sometimes because when I'm at home, and he's trying to talk to me, I'm always running around the house. I tell him, "Yes, dear. I'm listening to you. I still hear what you're saying even though I'm in the other room." LOL! He still has to follow me around so he can make sure I'm hearing what he's saying. It's kind of funny, but kind of sad that I'm that way. I'm so glad he still puts up with it, though! Thanks again for an excellent response! You certainly deserve BR!!

Hey there! I've been doing a lot of that lately...resurrecting my old discussions because it's only fair that I comment to all those who were so kind to respond to my discussions in the first place! Thanks for commenting back too. That means the world to me, and it's great to know that you've still been staying busy at work. Same here! Job security, isn't it? In this tough economy, it's great to have a job or two!

I work at Wal Mart pushing carts so it is basically the same thing everyday except I do do carry outs so I have a bunch of those some days, and it gets slow especially early in the morning and late at night and I will be bored off of my butt, and I will sometimes just sit down and wait for something to happen,or I will go inside and talk to the door since they are often bored too,or I will just keep walking the parking lot so it looks like I am working,or sometimes management will find me something to do if they see I am bored and the parking lot is empty which is not always a good thing since, sometimes they stick me with the crappy jobs that they do not want to do themselves.

Working at Walmart seems like it would provide plenty of things to do, but I understand what you mean with it being slow early in the morning or late at night since a place like that wouldn't get too busy at those times. It's good that you look for things to do because hopefully your superiors would see that as a good thing that you always want to keep busy. Keep up the good work!

Yeah I know I want to look busy, and always do a great job, because if I do then I might get moved to another position which is what I really want,I do not want to push carts for too long lol, especially since I have been doing it for almost a year now.

Boredom sets in when a work is becoming really redundant. Whenever I feel bored at work, I would just log in to mylot and other social networking sites I joined in. I also play pc games sometimes, especially if my coworkers are too busy and wouldn't want to be bothered. I chat with my friends, since I'm in front of the computer most of the time, and I don't forget to text my fiancee, family and friends.

That sounds like fun! I'd love to be bored at work and have your job where you are able to catch up on all of your online friends and such. Many of these sites are either completely blocked or blocked during certain times at my job. I normally sit at the computer the entire day too. What I normally do like I did today is tell my boss I'm done with all of my work. If I'm done early, I'd rather leave early than sit around doing nothing since there's nowhere to go online. I got to leave an hour early from work today. It was really nice because it's an extra hour I get to spend on MyLot! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi JJ4Ever, It is really bored to be at office when we have nothing to do. It is also make us sleepy. When I still working with my previous company, I usually talk to my colleagues whenever I feel bored. I really hope that we had a meeting or some work at our main office so I could go there and had something to do (our main office is only about 500 meters from our site office). But if there is no one around or I did not go anywhere, I will connect to internet and play some games there. At that time, I do not know how to earn money through internet.

I agree...it's the worst feeling sitting at the office having nothing to do, but at least if you have a computer you can find something on the Internet to do. I do the same, although I don't get bored often since I can usually find stuff to do. I'm fairly good at keeping myself busy lol!

This is usually what I do when I don't have anything to do at work. I answer MyLot discussions. It really is effecient because aside from earning at your regular job, you also earn by answering discussions here. When all else fails and boredom still persists, I read manga online.I'm not sure though if this is allowed on your workplace.

Hey there, Goggles! Thanks for responding. When I get bored at work (after I've completed all my work and checked with coworkers to be sure they don't have other projects for me), I'll hop on myLot too. It's a win-win when you can make money at your job and earn on myLot! It's certainly a great place to stay busy if you need something to keep you occupied for a bit. I've never heard of Manga before. Now I'm curious!
