this kind of problem is common for xp users. the things you can do is 1. check for viruses using the latest antivuris software with latest updates. 2. try to restore to earlier time. 3. uninstall any new hardware or software that you have installed before this occured for the first time. 4. if the problem is not yet solved then the best thing is to reinstall vira the repair option so that the date and the programs remain like that the problem will be solved.

congrats at last your problem is solved. instead of using AVG use Avast as avast is much better than avg in detectin rates. its my opinion to use avast as i used both avg and avast and found that avast is much better.

Hi Yugasini, Earlier even i had faced the same problem it had happened to me due to virus in my pc and as well due to improper shutdowm of the system. I hope so there is a virus attack in your pc. Scan for the virus, due to some virus some windows file gets deleted. And never switch off the plug of the computer directly, if the pc is not getting turn off in the cpu Do find the switch in button Please press that button for few seconds then the system puts off. Have a great day

Troubleshoot might help you. But its always better to get it checked by some professional, as thers always risk of data loss. I recommend to back up your data on separate disk and format your computer. Reinstall windows from the scratch, and if still you have same problem, you would like to look into your hard disk being bad sectored or replacing memory.

I think your computer was infectted by virus. There must be some file from windows have been deleted because of this virus. My computer at home also had this problem before. This is just the biginig of it. Then the windows will start repeatly and then it cannot enter the windows anymore. The solution is just repair your windows from the installation cd. This problem is also come from mulfunction of hardware inside computer itself too. But it rare to be happen.

Troubleshooting simply is a way to help you fix the most common problems that computers can get in trouble over. Sometimes you can troubleshoot sulitions when the computer presents them to you. Though, you may want someone who understands a little more to help you troubleshoot your system. Without seeing it for myself I can't really help you.

i think your computer has some virus in it and thats the reason y ur having this shut problem . its better to format yor operating system alone . that is the c drive . so that other data is safe and after formatting install a antivirus and scan the computer first and then start using it . its not a big thing just a matter of 1 hour or so . /;

You're not alone : it's not rare for XP users ! It's better to try to fix it, as you can damage your HDD by plugging off brutaly the computer. Have a look here to solve your shutdown problem in XP : http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php
