Better in tests Sachin or Sehwag?

With 200 in ODI's there are talks of him beating the highest score in tests as well.. but the question is who is better suited to break that record.. for me without any doubt its Sehwag.. there were times before when he looked like beating it as all his triple centuries came in good time and had ample time to convert them into 400.. but unfortunately couldn't, while Sachin is yet to reach 300. In ODI's he had lot of scores above 150 and near to 200 and for sure the most likely to reach 200 in limited overs cricket, but its different in tests Sehwag having better chances with the ability of getting big scores and getting them in quick time..

Both of them are great batsmen but Sachin's class is well above that of Sehwag's. Sehwag could break the record though. He doesn't care whether its an ODI or a Test match. He just unleashes and then runs flows in.Just because of his massive striking there have been instances when the team could relax and play and then declare at a time with a nice score on board and yet have enough time to bowl out the opposition. But in Test matches sometimes we have to stay in the crease but I don't think that Sehwag cares about that.Sachin is one player who plays according to the need of the team according to the circumstances.

Thers's nothing like Sehwag can't stay at crease for long, he can do and we have seen in past that is case with Sehwag which is also reason for him not getting big scores in tests more often..

It is not easy to make comparison between these two. They have their strength and weaknesses and both have proven their capabilities in Test Cricket. Sehwag has been good at a time but not consistent enough in Test. In test Cricket stability is very important. It is definitely Sachin for test match. Sehwag need to learn some patience, he has scored 300 and that was when he could maintain his cool on playing shots. It will definitely happen in future is he can get control on his shots. I will choose Sachin over sehwag if have to choose either otherwise they both are excellent.

Its ok that for you find Sachin is better, but how come Sehwag isn't consistent in tests.. lol, get your facts right.. he is the most consistent bats man in tests for India from the day he started playing in tests.. and not only consistent in scoring but also he is consistent with scoring rate as well..

If you ask me frankly, I hope neither breaks the record in tests. The reason is that it is more important to win the match than score such a huge personal record and draw the match. The only person who can score 300 runs and still leave enough time for India to win the match is Sehwag. Even he would struggle to score 400 at a rate that can still leave enough time for India to win the match. So given this I would really not want anyone to break the world record of 400 runs :) Cheers! Ram

Sehwag can get there in first two days of test.. and all the time he got out scoring 300 team never declared just after he got out.. so he had time that time too to get to 400 and would have managed to get there without putting extra burden on team or taking the test match to draw.. ya Lara scored that 400 on cost of the chances of his side winning the match.. but at the rate Sehwag scores there will be nothing like that if he reaches there.. also given that he open the innings.

I think both are equally talented in tests. Tendulkar is good in both test and ODI's, whereas, Sehwag seems to be good more in tests than ODI's. Sehwag has already proved that he can score big runs by scoring 2 triple centuries in cricket. Tendulkar has already proven his talent by scoring the most number of runs in test cricket history. Sehwag can be very aggressive and give much trouble to the opposition and force them to control runs. Tendulkar can be consistent and score a century on any given tests. But I think tendulkar batting is technically better than Sehwag.

I think it is going to Sehwag if one for sure because if we see Sachin Tendulkar gets slow in his innings later on even if he starts on a swashbuckling kind of an early start. He sometimes takes more time to reach the later milestones and if anybody is suited for that kind of an innings, I guess it would be a Sehwag or even Gautam Gambhir as he is also opener and can play long innings without break in concentration!!

i will go with shewag , he can do it . i feel he will be the one who can make the runs more quickely.in 1 and half day he can score it. first sachin have reach 300 . i am sure that if once he reaches 300 he will score 400. as his age is increasing his playing is also getting more better.so sachin also have the ability to do it.

ya i agree with our master couldn do it in test only beause of his health problems and nothing else,he has undergone so many operations so may be because of that he is loosing stamina,in that case sewag excells,in a single day he could make 293 runs it an extradinary thing a typical hitter and nightmare for the bow;ers, none can punish the bowlers like how sewag and yuvraj does.in this current players in all the teams sewag is the only man who deserves to break the record of lara's 400 test runs.wish it to happen soon.and the sad thing is our master misses just a single record which is that test runs but sure he will be happy and proud if sewag gets it.
