balloons - balloons for a birthday party
Philippines
February 27, 2010 5:11am CST
Here, I have always observed birthday parties for children celebrated with lots of fun fare and merriment. All the children-guests are treated to lots of games, dances and food. There are lots of toys. Balloons are tied to chairs which set the happy mood for the day. At this age, do you think it is okay for your children or relatives who organized the party to have balloons for your birthday? Do you think it fit to have balloons at this age?

Why not. It only gives the celebration some character and it promises some fun with it. I don't see any problem with it. I personally would add a nice pinyada as well. Just for the hell of it. Go and enjoy every second, with balloons and all. It keeps us young and on our toes. Have Fun. TATA.

balloons - balloons spice up simple birthday celebrations... make the children happy!
Hi Saphrina, Yes, why not? We are celebrating a happy event and anything that makes it happier would be better. I have observed that balloons are always present in any occasion. Be it birthdays, Christmas, New Year, office blessings or inauguration or here, even interment have balloons. I see balloons too in weddings or wedding receptions. So, why not? Hmmm, may I ask what a pinyada is?

Hi Saphrina, That seems so familiar here. We call the game "Hitting the Pot". A pot of clay is stuffed with candies, chocolates, coins, small toys, etc. Then, each child is blindfolded, is turned around 3 times, before allowing him a few steps to the hanged pot. He carries with him a piece of wood that he uses to hit the pot. He has three chances to hit, if not, the next child has his turn. When the pot breaks, everyone gets to scramble for the scattered goodies. Always, the blindfolded child gets a smaller share, hahahaha.

Thats a very nice pic. Now i want to celebrate something. LOL. Okay, i think it is from mexican origan, not sure. You make a donkey, not to big, out of newspaper or anything that will form nicely. Leave a hole and stuff it with whatever you fancy. Sweets, choc's, whatever. Close the whole, very tight. Now you blindfold people and each one have to hit it as hard as they can, untill it breaks and give all the nice little goodies inside. We use it for the bbiigg parties, so i won't tell you, what we stuff that thing with. Enjoy. TATA.

Balloons form a part of decorations for any occasion be it a little one's birthday or someone celebrating his/her 100th birthday. Balloons are normally associated with happy events and nowadays there are colour schemes when selecting balloons. I recently had a christmas party at my house where the balloons were in orange and white to go with the other decor of the house.

balloons - another kind of balloons that easily attract little children sold by a vendor just outside a church
Hi Allknowing, Mood is enhanced with happy decorations. They may come in flaglets or anything. It would be a gay and happy event with different gay colors in the surrounding. Balloons are surely the common things used in any happy event. They are often seen in birthday parties, especially children, but it should not prevent older ones to have them on their birthdays. Balloons are also used during parades or office inaugurations/blessings.

Yes. There's nothing wrong in celebrating occasions with balloons. balloons are decorative pieces that make the party more exciting... we always make sure to order 12 pieces of balloons when someone celebrates his/her birthday... balloons are not only for kiddos but for adults too... we only celebrate birthdays once a year so make it extra special...

Hi Happy2512, A venue is nice to see with balloons. Birthday celebrations are always happy events. We want to make everyone happy and we always think of ways to make it so. Children are especially happy with the sight of balloons, with toys, food and games of course. But it does not make it wrong to have balloons in an adult's birthday party.

I still like balloons on my birthday and I'm 33. No more toys, but still balloons. What age is the person you're discussing? It depends a bit on their desires, as well. Well they think it's babyish?

Hi Cripfemme, Sorry for not being so specific... it should have been "at this your age".. I mean now. Although I don't celebrate it with balloons because I usually don't have a party for my birthday, I like the idea of having them if ever I decide to have a party. It makes the atmosphere gay and fun. Everyone should enjoy having them at the venue.

I don't feel uncomfortable with having balloons as a decoration for my birthday party. I know that it may look a bit childish, but it adds some humor to the party. Still, I usually don't have balloons around on my parties.

Yes it does, balloons are part of decorative thing to make the occasions more colorful because it serves to add attraction to people, people have different taste when it comes to celebrations, for me, as a man, I don't need it, children, ladies and oldies are having more concern to have such decorations, but it really help.

Hi Dreamnishu, Balloons surely add up to the gay and happy mood of the place and event. This is especially so if there are different colors. It makes us happy especially when these sway and seem to dance. It is as if they are celebrating the occasion too. Age does not matter then.

balloons - big balloons held by a child
Hi Earth2jacq, Right. It is a happy event and celebrated only once a year. Anything that would make one happy on his birthday will surely help the mood. I think there is nothing wrong with adults having balloons on their birthdays. We had, in the past, celebrated an adult birthday party where there were even parlor games. Everyone was happy to participate and enjoyed the event.

• Philippines

Hi Bingchen, You have your own reasons to do that. We respect your own reasons the same you that you do with others. Sometimes in very formal occasions, having balloons may not be appropriate. Whatever makes one happy during his birthday, we will that to one's choice.

It is okey to celebrate birthdays with baloons - sometimes we use it as decoration (small to big baloons) or some enterprising businesspersons insert gift such as stuffed animals or small tokens inside them

balloons - balloons and other toys sold by a vendor in a crowded church
Hi Rich_look, Birthdays come once a year and generally, people are happy to celebrate it. To make it memorable, a lot of things are done. Decorations such as balloons may be had. I am sure there are lots of food and even games for people to participate. Some invited guests bring along their children. I, too, have observed that children are happy to have balloons when they go home.
