Do you feel confident in your job?

Well, I have been working at the same job since 2006 there was really only 8 months that I wasn't working there. It is usually only me and one other administravite person there. Sometimes I feel like my job is secure because I have a lot of responsibility and I know a lot and person/detail information on the company. I usually work about 53hrs a week 11 months out the year and since mid January my hours have been cut to 40 which put a BIG damper on my finances. I ask my boss if I can change my schedule so I can get a part-time in the AM or PM and he looks at me like I am crazy. I am not sure since he is well off that he doesn't understand that I am struggling or he had some hope that business will pickup so my hours will get back to normal. Moving on, do you feel like you have a job that will get through this recession or do you feel like any day/month your job will be closing, or have you already been told that your job will be closing? How do you feel and what would you do?

Last year was a terrible year for the company I work for. We lost around 40% of our manpower. The department I work in had 5 people at the start of the year. By midyear, there were only 3 of us left. I am still uneasy, even up to now because of the 3 of us, I am a the one with the least experience. I feel they can let me go any time. Even the responsibilities for the work that we do, I feel that I only get the unnecessary ones. The business has started to pick up. I'm still crossing my fingers. Hopefully I survive until we get out of this recession.
