How sad - I just heard on the news tonight (2/27) that Marie Osmond's son committed suicide. I couldn't believe it, so I googled it, and sure enough - it did happen. How absolutely awful it must be to have your child die!

He came from such a strong family with such deep religious roots that I'm just astonished. I suppose that it proves that if it can happen in a family like the Osmonds, it can happen to anyone. I know that she must be devastated and my prayers go out to her. He was only 18 and he suffered from depression. How sad.

That's so sad. You know everyone feels that way to a degree as a teenager. I know I did. The pressure from middle school thru high school is very difficult. I wonder though what about him that he thought didn't fit in? When I was in school you had to have the right look & clothes and of course that took money my mother didn't have. But money was not his issue to fit in to get the look of his peers then what was the cause of his sorrow? I hope he's happier wherever he maybe after this life.

Interesting. I don't know much about religion or my own faith as it is... but I always like to think people go to a place where they are happy or reunited w/ loved ones or ?????

Hi Hatley – so sorry to hear of your loss. That had to be so very awful to go through! LotteryLover – that teaching is just that “a teaching.” M there’s nothing in the Bible that supports anything other than arriving at an instant destination when we die. Paul said:”For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” If we’re in a fog somewhere waiting to go to heaven, that’s not what I would consider ‘gain.’ My heart goes out to the Osmond family. You can raise your kids in the best of environments, and yet, they make choices that may not be good. As long as we’re alive, we have the chance to correct things and make changes, if we just perservere. Sorry this youngster didn’t feel that he could do that. What a waste. C. C.
