Dress sizes - HELP? / myLot

Okay I don't really understand dress sizes much. I wanna get my friend some dress but the measurements contradict... Okay I looked on the dress size standard USA chart and her bust is a 38, which would make the dress large, but her waist is a 26 which would make her probably in the medium range. O_O So do I get her a large or a medium dress?

Hi lifeguru! Sometimes i also do that with my friends and to my families and doubtful about their sizes too. So, in order to get the maximum fit for them, i choose the dressess which is FREE size label though some cases that other brands don't have. You can ask the saleslady if that is a free size or not or you can check the tag label.

you go with the larger size. you don't; say what size her hips are which is also a factor in dresses.

This is going to sound crazy, but the best way is too look at the shopstewards and see if one of them can maybe be the same size. That will help. Or you have to take her with when buying the dress. TATA.
