Can Anybody Speed Read or PhotoRead, anything like that?

My dad recently brought home this book all about PhotoReading, and I don't know if I should get into it. SAT's and ACT's are coming up soon and it would be really nice if I could read at 25,000 words per minute =P. So basically I just need the advice of people who have already accomplished this feat. How long did it take you to get to the point that you're at right now? Is it worth the time?
