What I've Wanted!

Well Years ago when I was on a Back to the Future Kick I dreamed of owning a Delorean once I learned how to drive. I'm learning how to drive now. I don't want a delorean now though, but was thinking of how I used to want one. I think I liked the back of the car how the back window was really... more of a shade? Now though I'm not sure that it would be safe to drive with a back like that. I've never been in one so I'm not sure how good you can see out of the back window.
I think everyone has dreamed of having a sports car as their first car. I'd like to have a nice older car, but know that it'd be more expensive then it's worth right now, so that dream will have to wait. Maybe once hubby and I have children and they get old enough to drive themselves we'll give them our car and we'll buy the car of out dreams (which may have changed umpteen times by then!)
So what do you guys think of the Delorean?

Oh that is nice! I think Grandprix can be considered a sport car atleast insurance wise... don't quote me on that... I'm really bad at car models!

Oh yea, Pontiac Grand Prix of course! Oh so it doesn't hurt the insurance rates? Like I said I am bad at models and don't know much about insurance quotes!

Hi SCG!
I understand that you are talking about a sports car. There
is no harm dreaming a big big car and God willing, you will
be able fulfill your dream one day. It would be a wonderful sight
and experience for you to drive a Delorean.
Have a great day!

Deepak,
I came across an article yesterday whilst looking at Deloreans. Said article was written a few years ago and stated that in the next few years (so possibly now) the deloren motor company would be remaking better versions of the Delorean.
Have you seen a delorean? It's a nice car, like the one off the Back to the Future Movie.

Here I actually found the link to said article, it says only a limited 20 would be made per year, so you know that's going to be a very expensive car. I'm not sure that I really want the car now anyway, and I'm sure the insurance on it would be considerably high.
What was your first dream car?

I like the Delorean. I have a friend that owns one. Like you, he saw Back To The Future when he was a kid, and he told his mom after watching the movie that he was going to buy himself one of those cars. She just laughed it off. He started saving his money that he earned from doing chores and odd jobs and stuff as a kid, and once he got a real job, he started to put money back from that as well. WELL, a couple of years ago, he got online and found a Delorean for sale somewhere in the northern U.S., and HE BOUGHT IT with the money he had been saving since he was a kid. His mom about fainted when he brought it home LOL

I actually wouldn't mind having one myself if I had a use for a car, but I need a truck. I do a lot of hauling and towing, so a car really isn't a good fit for me. I hope to buy a Ford F-250 by the end of the year though...

Good luck with buying that truck. My husband and I really want a lot of different cars, but we'll get the best on gas most likely when we do get a chance to go car shopping and ahve the money etc.

Back to the Future are pretty cool movies, and I can understand how much you probably wanted a Delorean, because it is a neat little car,and I agree I do not know how safe it would be because I have never been in one,and the closest I have ever been are the cars that look like it on Grand Theft Auto IV,and it would be nice to have a car like tat,but it would probably not be a good car for children, and you never got your car, just like when I was little I wanted a dark blue Dodge Ram,but I never got it, and I am kind of glad I did not get it,because they are gas guzzlers, and now I would rather have a smaller truck like my fathers or Brian's or maybe even a Toyota truck because they are nice too,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

When we are younger we don't really think about the price of gas, heck we most likely didn't even understand it. We just liked the way it looked. Like the one commercial that is now playing, I forget which car dealer but it talks about how the kid wants the car because of it's looks but the parents want to know that it's safe and is good on gas. Maybe we will both get the cars we want, but it seems we want aplenty, don't we? I'd really rather just have a nice car with a bucket seat maybe a convertible to drive around town in the summer!

I always thought the door were cool...the way they opened upwards instead of out...and the entire look of the car was pretty sleek. I used to want a corvette, until I found out how much it cost to insure one. Now, I'd like to have a ragtop sports car...but that'll have to wait until the grandkids are older. They like to go places with me so I need more than two seats in any vehicle I drive.

ragtop? Is that like the cloth top like what they have on convertibles?
Yes the doors are very nice, it's futuristic almost, don't you think? I believe a Lamborghini also has doors like that, does a corvette? I forget. I suppose any car could be custom like that.
Hubby and I don't yet have children but have been told that when we get a car we should think about when we do have kids. Basically, no two doors as it'd be a pain to get the car seat in and out.
