We are alive and fine for now.Thank God for that. The heavy movements lasted for 4 minutes early morning 3.30am on happy friday night,8.3 in our area, we were running down from 9th floor with our two little kids(3 yrs and 1.2 years) through emergency exit fully blocked with people. For a moment, we thought we were dead adn building is almost crashing, huge falling sound over our head, dvd and tv all are falling down, oh no, could imagine again. Still we are experiencing aftershocks measuring 4 to 5 in the scale now, hope big one won't occur again. Our house has some cracks as well. We were outside most of the time since then, only today night were were partially sleeping inside teh house, yes could not sleep well, its 3am now, still the shock is with us. No shops, no resturants, no ATMs,Airport is closed,no buses, no trains almost nothing, were were outside with kids, terrific two days. Power, gas, communication is restored quickly atleast in our area, so well organised and dedicated government, a real hats-off to chile government. Still we are shocked and not able to come out of it fully.Everytime there is a aftershock, we are runnning out and getting back to house again now. Under such a huge mess, the happiest part is our two little kids doesn't know what is happening arround happy playing and normal as they are, happy for that. All together could not take it easy, it was heavy and very miserable experience, something which is unforgettable to take away from Chile for rest our life, yes we are not Chileans. Hope we will be alive to see back our relatives and friends soon. Cheers Vj with heavy hearts from Chile, 1st March 2010, 3.17am.

No matter how often earthquakes happen in your place you could always claim that you can claim that you re ready for it every time it occurs. I think you were very lucky to have escaped that horrible quake you just had. I could not imgine of that happens in my place if the government can cope with it and the restoration of th basic needs such as electricity and communications where restored back to normal. I do hope and pray that aftershocks would also disappear soon.

hi vjenerprise oh my how horrible for you. Iam here in California in the US. and I know how minor earthquakes scare me, but that one,oh you and your children are so lucky to be alive.I can barely keep from shuddering thinking of four minutes of that shakingand violent movements with things falling around you. It wou ld be petrifying yet you had to keep moving. I am glad your children are not traumatized by that earthquake.wow. I do hope that you are able to get food and water now.Oh you will never forget this thats for sure, so you are not Chileans. Hope you will be able soon to returne to your relatives and friends. God Bless you.
