I asked this question because many people nowadays sleep less than six hours daily. What do you think? Is it advisable? what is the right sleeping time to gain energy and performs well in daily activity?

I'm sleeping only 5-6 hours, i now it's not the best but sometimes than i go sleep and have seeped about only 5-6 hours i fell better and it's es easier to wake up. But than I sleep 8 hours it's hard to wake up and want to sleep. The synthetics say that 8-9 hours is the best for sleeping. But if you sleep more it's not to good for your health.

They say that the sufficient hours of sleep should be 8hours. But there are recent studies which say that people as they age, settles with less hours of sleep. 4hours of sleep can be revitalizing enough for them. But for youngsters, they would still need the 8hours sleep. That explains everything. I'm only getting 4-5 hours of sleep in a day. Signs of aging. LOLZ

i have managed to get by on 5 hours of sleep but have felt pretty tired the next evening. if you get a deep and restorative sleep however, it may be enough to power you for the next day.

I don't think this is enough sleep for anyone. That's why we see so many people crash and burn and look tired and energy less. Definitely not the qualities of a successful person. I myself don't get enough sleep and feel the need to take cat naps every now and then but don't end up doing that either. As a result I look and feel lazy most of the time.

I get about 6 hours a sleep at night and I feel like that's not enough but with my schedule I can't fit anymore! I'm sure people could function on 4 to 5 hours of sleep but in my opinion i wouldn't suggest it.

Thanks for the insights. I believe that 4 to 5 sleep is insufficient and not advisable to our health.

I only get 5-6 hours of sleep these days and if only I have time and don't need to go to work I'll probably still sleeping until 10-11 am in the morning! There are times that I woke so early and I see to it that I get my afternoon nap in the middle of the day at the office to recharge some energy. Using computers and surfing or playing on facebook takes a lot of my time weeks ago but recently I managed to quit my gaming account where I have thousand of online friends and I only visit my personal account with no games in it. And it really feels great to sleep early and wake up early, I feel energized! Anyway, I think less than 8 hours of sleep these days is ok as long as you don't fall asleep when working, just be sure to take a nap for a few minutes during break.

I can't afford to sleep at work during lunch time due to my work load. At night, my early sleep is 11pm and the late is 1am. sometimes i feel unproductive at work because of insufficient sleep.

It depends of people and of their ages. I'm a little insomnia and i only sleep 4-6 hours per night, and i'm always tired the morning but then, i find more energy in the day.

Adequate sleep is extremely crucial for healthy and normal functionality of the body. Adults needs an average of 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day. I personally do not feel that 4 to 5 hours of sleep is enough.

I work on a night shift this is why I really need to have enough sleep, however I only have like 4-5 hours because of my kids. Then my body system was able to adopt to that.
